considering they didnt want to do anything with the kinect for voice attack I doubt it. I'm just hoping they actually support some of the mixed reality headsets for the x1x with elite

The reason they didn't support Kinect, IIRC, is because that device uses a stupid high number of system resources.

I doubt a mouse and a keyboard use nearly as much.

Frontier, please. :)

Also, just an FYI, Voice Attack is NOT a Frontier product. Frontier has nothing to do with voice commands. That's all third-party.

Why would anyone want to play a space sim with K&M? That seems like an objectively awful method of control compared to flight sticks or something like the Elite pad.

It's not. Just to give an example. Something like 80% of pilots in the PvP league used mouse and keyboard.

Trust me. It's the most difficult control setup to learn... But when you learn... Oh boy is it good.

No stick can ever be as accurate as a mouse. Keyboard is fine for throttle.

Seems just opinion as real aircraft arent flown with mouse and keyboard so logically the HOTAS are more accurate and precise but planes also have controllers so to speak and steering wheels and pedals

none have mouse and keyboard.

Aircraft are not space ships. Let me assure you that the flight model in Elite, especially when using FA-off like the top players do, is nothing like an airplane within Earth's atmosphere.

As I often say, the reason I'm a pretty sub-par Elite pilot in terms of skill, is because I treat the ships like aircraft. That habit is a mistake. It is not an efficient way to fly an Elite ship.

Ok let's use your wording then....just insert "space ships" in my last comment. It's an opinion that mouse and keyboard are more precise not a fact. It's easily arguable that any of the three are better as it's the players preference however "space ships" in real life aren't flown by mouse and keyboard is my original fact which is why I'd say it's more accurate to say it's an opinion.

Elite Dangerous ships aren't real. We have no idea what control input will be used on the craft that takes us to Mars. It's all hypothesis.

The fact that most top pilots in the game, however, choose to use a mouse and keyboard... Well, that is evidence to suggest a mouse and keyboard offers greater control.

What I am trying to say is, real world analogies are irrelevant, as the vehicles we are talking about are pure fantasy, set in a fantasy environment.

Real life mechanics have nothing to do with it.

I think if anyone wanted to play ED with mouse and keyboard they would of brought it on PC already.

For me I want to see people on console have choice. Choice of controls is only a good thing. And with some games, such as PUBG, well, it's only fair that console players have access to the more accurate control options as their PC adversaries, in competitive play. I should point out, I'm not playing Elite with mouse right now, I'm actually playing with a game pad!

And when I say a mouse is more accurate, I'm only saying that because it is outright fact that a mouse does provide more precise tracking. This isn't a criticism of controllers. I think they're plenty enough accurate. But if we're going to talk min/maxing... a mouse does come up on top.

I'm looking forward to (hopefully) being able to bind commands to my keyboard for certain things. It would be great for vanity camera/multicrew bindings instead of using controller commands. I'll most likely still use my controller for most things, like flight, etc, but it would be nice to bind less used commands to the keyboard.

I wonder if one would be able to utilise their chat pad like I do on PC? ;)

I highly recommend the chatpad. I've had it for years now, and it is invaluable, especially in ED, as well as mmos like elder scrolls online. 10/10 would buy again.

The fact is this:

The pilots you're referring to play on PC which is their platform of choice and where 99% of games on this platform are mouse and keyboard therefore....these pilots who prefer mouse and keyboard use mouse and keyboard. This platform was designed with the thought that gamers will use mouse and keyboard so from a development point, more care was put into those defaults but what creates precision is familiarity of the pilot with x, y or z controls.

Its incorrect to conclude mouse and keyboard are more precise

on xbox one ....where you're posting...the games are dominated with gamepad controls. It would be inaccurate for anyone to write that gamepad is more precise than any other control method when discussing such on a platform where the games are first designed with a gamepad only development focus for this platform.

Lastly, for a pilot of real aircraft and spaceships. It would be inaccurate to say that HOTAS are not more precise than any other control type as these people spend 99% of their time operating while on HOTAS.

Thats all im saying...your comment isn't conclusive as a fact, it's only accurate to say it's what pilots on PC prefer who don't use HOTAS as often as mouse and keyboard. I personally own both but I'm more precise on a gamepad or HOTAs because of what I use most often.
