If accurate, an even smaller gap than I was expecting.
Yeah, I read this .... It really looks like the 3090 is not worth the money, especially when we know a 20GB 3080 is coming.

Unlike the price gap.

Always wait for the Ti...

The consensus is that there is little room for a ti between the 3080 and the 3090, but the rumored 20gb model will probably age better that the standard 3080.

I am waiting, not primarily by decision. Retailers increased the prices and FE is impossible to buy - but I'm not in a hurry, the 1080ti is still a great GPU, so I might sit out a while longer if it can run the Reverb G2 fine.

That's advice from past generations when the Ti was an xx102 part while the non-Ti, which came significantly earlier, was a smaller xx104 part. That transition from mainstream to big-die came with a significant performance improvement that couldn't be overcome just by clocking the smaller part faster. However, the current 3080 is already a big-die GA102 part. If past naming schemes carried over the 3070 would have been called the 3080 and the 3080 would have been called the 3080 Ti.

We have room for maybe a 5% boost performance over the 3080 before it starts to heavily cannibalize the 3090 and a similar increase is all that's likely possible for anything that could be slotted in above the 3090.

Yes, 20 GB would be more commercial than TI, for the comfort.

The performance is already here.
