Latest Rift mystery updates

..... if anyone has anything they need help investigating (pc or ps4) let me know as i will be aimlessly wondering the great black .....

Actually speaking of such anyone enyone else notice the dna double helix star formation in the nebula with the same shape near the bub ? (The one with the odd system names starting s171 i think) Got to be man made /artificial

Or the strange lines of stars in the eagle nebula?

We just need to keep the mystery alive and well in the community..plus i dont think we've read the last of Drew.
I'm fairly certain we have. He has been working on licensed work on another game, Lords of Midnight, and after he announced that he's leaving Elite after the Salomé event, pretty much all his comments about ED were snide remarks. Looking at his Twitter feed, the last one was four days ago. So, it's unlikely he would return even if he were asked to, which is unlikely as well.

As for other mysteries: sure, there are still things to be looked for, but the problem right now seems to be that without hints (or just hints too vague), search areas are far too big. The latest would be the distant Guardian structures (not the ancient ruins) that the new Ram Tah mission hinted are out there, and which could produce Guardian ship schematics as well. Thanks to a bug where the ruin obelisks would give out data which was meant to be gotten from the ancient data terminals, we know that besides the weapon and module schematics, there are also vessel schematics - but we haven't found any structures which produce those yet.

Then there are of course the earlier mysteries.

IIRC the Zurara was discovered 25 Apr 3303 and Salome died 29 Apr 3303

Yup, we found the Zurara some time before Salomé's demise. I believe it was the 18th?

Somehow it seems a lot longer to me. Funny.

I suspect the next major piece in the story will come when we are able to access Col 70 sector, the system that all the probes are pointing to and also whichever catalogue star it is near the Pleiades that is permit locked. The one with the Megaship.
There's also Polaris, which played a big part in the Frontier Thargoid narrative, and the evergreen Raxxla, which from the beginning was a protean myth and could almost literally be anything and anywhere.

Oh yes??? (gordy cups his ear)

I tend to think you get more satisfaction if you find mysteries for yourself! ;)

But, a few are a bit buried away in old galnet posts, so here's a few:

- What found Jacques station out there in the black after his attempt to jump to Beagle Point went wrong?
- What did Jasmina Helsey encounter while floating out there in the black after Starship One was destroyed in a misjump?
- What is the significance of Col Sector 70 FY-N C21-3 (The Thargoid probe uses distance from there to Merope as its unit of distance).
- What is the significance of Merope 5c to the Thargoids

Soontill.

And Raxxla. Always Raxxla.

It sounds like the whole Zurara thing might have been fun to take part in. I remember hearing about it, but I was still earning my wings during that time, so to speak. Kickstarter backer who waited til 2017 to start playing. :) I was probably just buying my first AspX around the time of the Salome event.

I'm hoping we get some more exploration challenges outside of the bubble, but it seems to be a very difficult balance on how to narrow the search with hints of locations, without giving it away completely and having groups like Canonn find it in the same day the hint is released.

Well, arguably there are some, but it depends whether you mean a challenge in the sense of something that's organised by FD and which there's a bit of a 'congratulaitons, you've done it at the end', or whether you're happy to just do things for the challenge, and the possible discoveries.

At the moment, off the top of my head there's:

- the search for the crystalline forest/alien tube worms: https://canonn.science/codex/alien-tubeworms-hunt/

- searching for more space pumpkins/fungal gourds (for a long time the only known example was at an Alliance base in the California Nebula, but someone has just found a new site): https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...foil-Hattery?p=6626244&viewfull=1#post6626244

- searching for new Guardian bubbles

- searching for new Guardian sites in known Guardian areas

- mapping the extent of the Braintree areas near the main Guardian bubble

- searching for Thargoid branacles or other Thargoid activity

(See the stickies threads in the Aliens section of the forum for these , and also the MWSOG thread here in the exploration section: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...Fumarole-Location-Catalog-and-Data-Collection)

Yeah, I was talking more about FDev organized hunts specifically rather than the existing self-directed content. ;)
The Salomé event was all organised by players though, with FDev's only role being that they added content specifically for it.
