Latest stream has more dislikes than likes... FD are you listening?

Hey Piglet,

At the moment we're focusing on some of the big hitter feedback regarding PowerPlay that have been circulating for a while, for example, the idea of 'Open-only' PowerPlay. We're weighing up the pros and cons of both, as well as the technical aspect, and once we have a decision we'll feed that back, but I can't put a timescale on that considering a lot of focus is on Odyssey at the moment. Once we have a handle on the bigger things, I think it would be a good idea to have a focused feedback thread.
@Zac Cocken
This is the kind of communication I like.

Yup he's a nice dude! Don't envy his job and hope he doesn't take any of my personal criticism of the state of the game personally. But then I'm sure he doesn't, that's what he's payed to do! Liking someone doesn't let the company they work for off the hook for bad practices though.

Well, i'm sure Arf is trying to be as honest and frank as he can be.

I trust Arf as a person a lot. As a CM, i know his hands are tied.
Just in case this is lost in my posts - whenever I refer to the CMs by name who I really mean is Frontier the company, it's nothing personal at all - and when it comes to Arf, I actually think he's doing a great job, Frontier will do well to retain him. Whether he's willing to put up with what he's given, who knows but he himself.

I'm not sure asking them to share stuff before they're ready is reasonable. It's just going to lead to things like the "dev livestream / dev update post" mega complaint thread.

I mean, seriously, close to 100 pages (across the various threads and forums combined), just on the official forums, discussing how bad it was that Frontier had said there'd be a dev livestream but actually there was a dev forum post (containing the same information).

Message - I think - they received loud and clear: it's better to say nothing than to say something which turns out not to be 100% correct.

"You said X, now you're saying Y, you lied to us" -> "Okay, we'll wait until we're 100% confident before talking."
"You aren't telling us anything" -> "Okay, we'll say some things which aren't currently 100% certain."
Repeat forever.
What you say is reasonable, but "when thye're ready" is completely unquantifiable, and sounds very much like FD's "business as usual". I would suggest that they really don't want to be giving that impression in the current climate.

It's just that there was supposedly this FD epithany voiced by Arthur about openess, which I find completely at odds with the non-existent roadmap and the "yeah, we errr... haven't got any plans at the moment."

Isn't that just the other shoe falling when you fund a title based on great expectations for the future following a limited launch.
IF Elite had just launched with a this is what you get pay £40 and if you like it keep it if not refund then I would be with you.

But FDs entire pitch was based around their vision, having faith in them and being patient..... The problem with this is that then removes any right to refund because if you wait 3 years or so keeping the faith then your consumer rights go out of the window.

7 years on with the game nothing like what I expected , but more importantly not really that much like the game pitched imo I think some players who are disappointed are well within their rights to voice that disappointment (within the rules of the forum).

ED is littered with features which released and were begging to be developed but we're instead seemingly dropped and left hanging.

It's a damn shame imo.
If the game works well for you and ticks your boxes then great, but I don't think you should chastise those who it doesn't work properly for for voicing their issues.

Frontier have my money for elite so "so what if Mad Mike is disappointed" you may ask... The thing is I backed ED on good faith. It is the last time I will ever do that with a frontier product again.

I will now only buy their stuff when I can get a finished version... Which is good for me I save a bundle. Their other games I bought cost me pennies.

I think you're making a different point from what i was making.

What you seem to be talking about is more to do with the risk of preordering or trusting the devs will add later content that matches your hopes for the game.

Always a risky business that ;)
