Lego Asp Scout (UCS minifig 1:96ish scale) update

To tide over waiting for Odyssey I'm going full dad and making a big Minifig scale ED ship- the much er...loved Asp Scout. My aim is to finish it before EDO comes out so I can take my time. The camera is a bit naff too, so apologies for the quality.

The objective is to have it packed with detail- so far its free standing on fully retractable landing gear, has a working cargo scoop, rear ramp and has an SRV bay that can accommodate a small SRV. Both cockpits are almost to size- the ship is bang on Nanofig / microfig scale (whatever they are called) but I decided to do a halfway house 'best fit' because the smaller figures are a bit naff. Eventually I want upper corridors and rooms, although the 'lower deck' is almost there (i.e. a corridor between the lower cockpit, SRV bay, cargo hatch and rear hatch).

I'm not too keen on EDs interior designs so I'm taking influences from films like Alien and industrial machinery / current engineering too. Its also a challenge making such a large model robust enough to be free standing as its getting chonky :D

I'm a stickler for perfection, so I tend to refactor the details and I might be some time....plenty of opportunity for FD to do those Powerplay changes eh, eh? :D

Rubbernuke's Asp - now with more ship interior than the actual in-game version.

Been doing some work on the cockpit frame, adding more detail:

And some bunks! There are two of these little areas (one on each side) that connect to the main corridors on both halves of the ship

Those bunks are looking great, and I really like the upside down gates - I might pinch that idea for the classic space base!

While rooting about I found some flexi hoses ref 57539 and was reminded of your project.
They might be handy for filling in some of the complex curves or for greebles. Assuming you've not got some already, the trans with colours might be useful.

:D cool!

If you look a little further right on that picture, you'll see I used the 2 x 6 white arches the same way- so they form the top and bottom to form a smooth airlock / corridor shape:

I met a traveller from a different game,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless wings of Lego
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered hull lies, whose canopy,
And smashed doors, and bays of wrecked intention,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the forum, these words appear:
My name is Rubbernuke, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

I wonder if Barry will be hanging around somewhere?! ;)

I have a question though. Do you plan to ever complete it ? And what would happen ? Smash it and re-do again ?
It seems to me it's one of those project where there is more value doing it than completing it^^
