General / Off-Topic Lets discuss that "other" game that had a Beta twitch stream yesterday.

The sheer amount of fighting this beta generated just between people having complaints and others arguing it was only a beta made for a very interesting weekend. When it came down for it to me, the developers said that they wanted people to really test out the coaster builder, but then left a lot of content active that didn't need to be there. Of course people were going to try these features out and they were very disappointed by them. Without that little glimpse behind the curtain, the amount of hate against the game would be less. People would be making the same arguments/complaints about the spline editor needing to be a hybrid, the wooden coaster being broken, and supports being in the way every second of the game, but they probably wouldn't be calling for pitchforks. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not purposing to wait and see or that I have a lot of faith in the game that will be released at the end of December, but I probably wouldn't know that yet [happy].

Looks pretty nice though

Polite and open discussion/criticism is perfectly welcome but I hope we can stop the negative bashing comments before it all kicks off.
Can't we just wait see how both games compare when they are released? [up]

Kim Jung Un sure did a good job there...

Spline system could work, I mean this picture proves that. But it needs a feature to build straight stuff. And I mean really straight. I would hate to build my chain lift track in a weird shape all the time (as seen in RCTW beta).
Therefore I still think a system that contains both spline and piece-by-piece should be implemented. In the end piece-by-piece is much more user friendly then spline-based. But to be the next gen in theme park building p-b-p isn't enough anymore.

They just posted a new blog and are delaying it into 2016. I think this is bad news for Planet Coaster and RCTW is going to be a lot better than we thought.

^He's joking right?

RCTw is delayed because it has major issues and it wasn't received well by its demographic target.

RCTW won't get any better than it is already. Bugs and game issues aside, delaying it a month from release when they're on their third developer isn't going to them any favours.

Edit: Not that they shouldn't delay; the game definitely needs it and if they can fix certain things, great, but it won't fix the loss of faith a lot of us felt after playing that beta.

I personally think they have gone in a direction that is aimed at super realism and it will be hard for them to change momentum - I am still going to get it as I love this sort of genre plus competition is good in the market. At least they have acknowledged the feedback, I am not sure how they are going to address it but thats not my problem - I will use both games and settle on the one I like.

Better to delay a game and produce a quality game than to release it earlier and have a bad game forever.
Not stating it will be a quality game but the delay will most certainly iron out a lot of bugs, perhaps you are not a game developer but in case you are not then believe me that you can achieve great progress with a month of extra development time.

As far as I am concerned these games are being made with the same idea in mind. But they are both coming at it from completely different routes, to me this just makes for them to be completely different with totally different styles, themes, features and more. So I think it will be neat to see how both groups make the game in the end and to see how they both contribute to the community after the main release with updates, expansions, DLC what have you.

I am excited for both games and I will play both games as they are all going to have there own special things about them. I'm just ready to play them again and getting to play some of the beta with RCTW, it got me wanting to play this game all over again with new and update everything. So again I'm excited about both, but so far with the way Planet Coaster looks its turning into my favorite because of the style of the game so far. But that's just me.

I'm excited for both games as well.
I do believe PC will do better, simply because Of Frontjer.
I like how they both have different artistic styles.
