General / Off-Topic Lets discuss that "other" game that had a Beta twitch stream yesterday.

If it's one of the keys that were given away on the Alienware streams, PC Gamer draw or the Escapist twitter giveaway (where I got my key) then it's a full standard edition key and you'll be able to play the next beta.

It was in a different competition. I know it'll give access to the beta, but the issue is whether or not we've sorted out a new computer for Kerantli that's a little more powerful than the archaic laptop she got from me :D

@ Helena. Nice to see you here. Finally!

Yes your thoughts are right. I missed that emotional/ passionate part of the game. It looks amazing but static. But otherwise they had a few problems with switching devs. And as I know that Atari hasn't more employees like frontier so it's more difficult for them to build up that game we want. Nothing about patient. Even when I believe that planet coaster wins this race in future.

Exactly. With so few people they need to have LONG developing time. It is just a matter of work hours multplied per person (plus of course the skills, low skills = slower, repeating/figuring out) so in this sense Atari should let Nvizzio work on the game for 2 years AT VERY LEAST and then maybe more. If they did this then RCTW might have a good chance to be full fleshed nice game! And I am not talking about fixing the coaster editor. I am talking about the whole thing... It is not AAA game (as some people say, I think it is funny to say "AAA") as of now and most likely not within a few months either.

And people are whining about the extended date? Silly people. ;)

I think PC has won me over. But I am still hoping to be able to play *and* enjoy both games. :)

BTW, the avatar I see some people have the PC specific avatars, is it related to preorder game?

Also adding that in my personal opinion, if you rush things you will not figure out awesome things. If you take it slow/breaks you will think of new good ideas. It is at least in my own experience of creating things (of varying types)

No it is everyone's creativity. I never thought I would replace my Kermit. But I took the chance a copied my avatar from one of the picture here.

Back to RCTW. I just a post to a comment of Mattlab

Mattlab:
" The official date is "Early 2016". Certain sites however do not have the ability to display text as a date so they interpret it as they see fit and pick a date."

My post
"The most of us know that the other competitors prepares for starting early acces in March. So I would release before March. It could may have an big impact on the sympathy of RCTW. Hope you guys makes the best with the rest of your time.

I want to remind you, that you always talked about a "very solid game". So if the basics not working (grid, object placement) we gotta problem here"

Same, my gulpee avatar image came from taking a screenshot of the sketchfab 3d model followed by some editing to get rid of what I didn't need and finally add transparency to the cropped area. Considering it was a pretty crude job I'm happy at the way it turned out.

Ok thank you for telling me about the avatars, it was just picture grabbing + editing. :) Sorry for going off-topic.

back to topic:
I wonder if Mattlab have much control of what he says and thinks? Maybe if he personally is agreeing on that it may need more work but Atari is pushing Mattlab and not wanna get fired.. Or maybe he's what we call "home-blind" that is, used to what is there that is blind to the problems.

I wonder the same.
I really dont know ...

But at least we warned (repeatedly, and with a large numbers of arguments).
If they do not want to open the eyes, we can not do anything. Personally I gave up, because Matlab does not answer, even when I spend an hour to write something, although some are still trying, I think about two or three members on the RCTW forums, which are very very patient.

In all cases, I know that Atari is a very small company now, but they are not the kings of communication.

Yes they need to be humble and listen more to the fans as the fans are the one buying the game.
But then they could also hope to pull off EA style with Simcity and sims 4 and many other games: hope that people will buy because older games were good. Buying for the name. But I think they have kind of destroyed that now with the public beta (not too smart move) and that gave bad reviews and may have scared off people.

I wonder if they did see that coaster editor and many things were simply buggy and unfinished and still opened for public beta (ALPHA!) it feels so much of "emperor's clothes" until ooh the common people are right after all? :p hahaa, now I went negative. But it is the reality. Of course they have now extended the date which is good (really!) but will they deliver?

Its a good thing they shoved the release date further down. It can do wonders but i doubt it will raise the bar.

Yes, it's a good thing.

But i dont know if this will be enough (it's just a delay of some month, when i think they need 1 year)

I think Mattlab is probably caught between a rock and a hard place. As the Executive Producer I expect he genuinely wants to release the best version of the game possible but people above him will be in charge of the budget and after emerging from bankruptcy Atari are probably just about making ends meet with very little left over to fund their development of further games.

I do feel for Mattlab, I expect he literally had to go and beg his bosses for more time because they have been trying to nickel & dime this project from the outset and are clearly more interested in a quick cash grab on brand name recognition, much as their most recent Alone in the Dark game was.

Even with the delay to "Early 2016" Nvizzio aren't going to have sufficient time to add in the content that previous players of the franchise feel needs to be in a RCT sequel from day one. This may impact their sales and if the game doesn't perform well then it's entirely possible that Atari will cut off further funding and you'll never see them fulfil their promises to add these missing features post-release.

I do wish them the best but Atari don't have the best track record lately.

Yes I think no one wants to be in Mattlab's position.

And then I wonder if they (as a whole) is skilled enough for this job? Or really, interested in coasters. With seeing awful designs I wonder how the coaster demands will be. Forgiving for awful rides with high lateral g's and such. (no banked ride)

I think Sawyer's RCT was awesome because the ride physics demands were realistic. Frontier continued on that but a little more forgiving. I wonder if the trend will keep on being more and more forgiving.
