Let's see your piracy macros!

Maybe just change the game then so any trader who enters a system you're in, automatically has any expensive cargo automatically transported to a crate in station and set to owned by you?
Would that make the game easy enough for you, or would you prefer just to be given everything at the beginning and not need to play at all?

I'll enclose some tissues with any cargo you force me to drop, so you can dry your eyes after... Poor baby

This is going well.....

Please don't start sniping at each other.

Sorry, it's just some people just want easy mode made easier.
If they want to play at being pirates, then let them work for it, not have everything (including disabled traders) handed them on a plate...

Or send them to talk to Error, cos love him or hate him, at least he plays the game.

The traders who don't wish to comply must take their chances, nothing wrong with that... there's a good chance they will visit the rebuy screen though.

And that's a choice they have made, nothing wrong there but I think it's best when they have made an informed choice rather than a Pavlovian response. The pilots that interdicted me didn't make an informed choice either so it cuts both ways.
At the core of all this I think, is the whole risk vs reward vs punishment triangle is all out of balance.

I'd argue that rigging cargo to explode after scooping, rather than marking abandon... so the pirate ship blows up and gets the rebuy screen... awesome weapon that would leave pirates wondering and give traders a way to fight back.

Vs anything but a wing traders have a way to fight back, unless your in a T7 of course in which case you are at the mercy of just about anything.

About the response of press self destruct if I was hatching btw you are of course able to do that, and you could afford the rebuy i'm sure, but don't pretend the pirate can't afford to lose a target either you have to fund piracy like a rich mans hobby anyway. In context to myself you'd be swapping guaranteed survival for guaranteed destruction, I don't really think that ones make sense on any level really :p but you get to dictate your own actions in the same way I can with mine so if it seems like the right decision by all means don't give the pirates anything.

Lastly anyone pirating in a vulture is already incredibly suspicious as its almost the worst ship you could choose for it, so I'd just be extra wary of anybody "pirating" in a full combat ship as its a bit of a stretch.

We're talking about improving the game for everyone, as it stands traders tend to die in piracy encounters because of suspect functionality or lack-of communication tools.

Also, Error seems as frustrated as anyone with the current piracy implementation judging by his recent comments.

I was pretty much referring to the Plant the Hatch mob, not someone who is up to roleplay and negotiate. The story might be different then, but if my ship is disabled enough that I can't fight back, I'd rather not drag it out more than I have to.
On the other hand, the only time I fly unarmed is in a taxi stripped for speed and little else. In that case I'd have nothing worth taking anyway.

"Hello. I am flying a Sidewinder / Eagle / Viper / Adder / Cobra (delete as appropriate) and I couldn't resist the temptation to interdict your fully armed and 100% A-spec trade Anaconda. Whilst I would be grateful if you would kindly jettison your cargo I will also fully understand if you choose to devote the 5 seconds required to explode me. What is your choice prey?"

This about sums up all my recent interdictions by so called pirates.

Please don't grief a PVP thread with your PVE negativity.

I actually love your exploding crates idea. Here is how I would use it! ( New Meta created )

I would pull traders, drop 3 crates, one would be an explosive one. Force then to pick and scoop one.

Space Russian roulette. Its genius!

Do you have any more bright ideas that I can use for PVP hijinx?

Oh I forgot one of my new hails

"Hi you are being robbed, STOP. You are live on stream, don't combat log. The Code"

Less effective than you might think but part of the while-interdiction "Will he log game", Its very popular with my regular viewers.

i chose to go down the path of crime as my "career" in E:D, robbing traders of their wares and smuggling enslaved souls. To aid in my piracy interdictions, i made myself up 5 simple macros for ease of communication with my prey.

While still in SC: CMDR. When I interdict you, CUT YOUR ENGINES immediately!

Interdiction instance: Stop NOW or I will open fire!!

If they DON'T comply: Foolish decision Commander. Enjoy your re-buy screen }:)>

If the DO stop: Now ABANDON your cargo if you wish to live

Once they've blown their load: ...I'm touching myself tonight!

My fellow PvP pirates, share your phrases with us! should be good for a laugh

I don't even know how to set a macro up, never mind use them!!

Is there a layman's tutoring vid or wiki?

And as a pirate looking to make some money, do you choose the T7 or the shieldless Cobra with twin HSL's? ;)

In the end, it's down to the pirates to clean up their reputation within the community enough that traders won't automatically assume they'll be killed whatever. And the only way to do that is to take action against "gankers" and "griefers".

Once you get to that point, you might end up with a much more favourable situation where you interdict a type-7 (or whatever) as it enters the system, and end up escorting it in safely, winged up and sharing the profit equally...
You might even make a friend or at the very least a regular willing customer who'd rather not risk otherwise... Better the devil you know, and all.

It's not about the mechanics. It's about the community rep of pirate RPers having been destroyed, and it's only those RPers who can fix that.

You can't pirate a cobra... Its been like the first rule you learn since the game came out lol I always used to tell people on steam if you wanted a safe ship, do everything in a cobra, or a clipper.

Your talking about a game world of thousands of people, it's 100% all about mechanics because they steer the behavior of the playerbase.

You can't just wag a finger at the community and tell them to behave, mass-psychology doesn't work that way.

You know I love you but I have pirated in a Vulture.

Not the best but not bad :) Its more viable now with better silent running a couple of HRP's instead of the shields and SCB.

Funny, it worked the other way.

I think she is right.

My first PvP experience. I was summarily executed.
My second PvP experience. I was under attack with no attempt having been made to communicate.
My third. I don't stop any more.
