Let's see your piracy macros!

Nothing beats a clean release. All that drifting carrrrrrrrrrgo, tumbling in starry skies... so beautiful, so sexy... longing for our touch.

Well, I don't know. All this blowing their load... clean release... touching themselves... it all sounds a bit saucy to me.

Some may argue that if a player is not going against the other by retaliating/dropping junk/misleading the aggressor and instead just tries to helplessly flee or comply the "versus" part is falling short.
Like playing someone in a fighting game who just quits on you or doesn't defend/attack.

If the other player quits, you won.
Not just in computer games, even in MMA (Ruleset: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_martial_arts_rules .. those guys must be real wimps to require pages upon pages of rules :p combatlogger confirmed: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mma-c...cage-leaving-arena-middle-191900674--mma.html )

If you still feel you lost when someone quits, maybe you were not looking for victims, you were looking for someone to play with.
Awkward for both of us, I know.

Sadly I've given up on the pirate side of things since you don't make much doing it. It was fun and all at first but now it's more a chore and it feels like I'm bullying players now when I do it. It was fine in the Cobra, but once you hit Clipper and Python levels, there's no real point to piracy.

It's one of those things that needs a pass by Frontier but they've been saying they're gonna do a pass in it for what seems like forever. So I don't bother anymore.

But it's all "me me me, want want want, give or die"...
If you want the victim to give you cargo and roleplay, then you have to give something back1, and right now, it's all one way.
No wonder that people don't wish to play your way.

Take what you can... give nothing back! Arrrrgh!

"I work for a 20 year company that is currently expanding our operations in the Spica*) area and we are looking for people who are smart and have a good business mind…. judging from my scans, you seem to be that type of person. Someone with your experience can earn anywhere from an extra 1 to 5 Billion a week on a part time basis. Would you be interested to learn more?"

Exactly. You didn't get any PvP game. Whether that's technically a win to forward active participants in a competition doesn't really matter. The action itself did not take place.

Again ... too much off topic X_x

I really think that's part of the problem tbh...
There's those who want to pirate, but for that to happen, it has to be (a) consensual with people willing to rp victims, or (b) non-consensual with all the Pv*... argument and getting an agreement there is going to be a whole new level of tough.

It's all well and good wanting to not turn it into a PvP vs PvE, but when you want a Predator v Prey roleplay, it's a fact that has to be dealt with... Either that or take it to a fetish club... aka a private group.

I do agree that we need to try to avoid that other debate, but it's there.

Thread went off topic after the 2nd page - I saw either load of very bad, way too long macros where you're arguing with your playmate where stuff goes and where it doesn't, or didn't see too many at all.

And I don't know if you watched that video. I might have missed the part where the one guy was asking the referee to keep the other guy in the ring so he could have his 10 minutes of hitting each other. Or where he looked sad. He did look puzzled, and then strutted around the cage, flexing his abs and showing of his .. something.

Although Pirate macros help in PvP, the OP is clearly perverted although with some tongue and cheek. I'd hate to see these players get carried away with this but adding a Instant VOIP to locked target would be a better style than text. The players can choose to have this OFF as is an option already. It would work better than the current Request Wing when all you want to do is use it as a taunt (but could be saving their life without combat logging!).
"Drop out, pulled up and gimme some or else!" - is suffient.

How do NPC pirates fit into this vision? Are they removed from open too?

I was in my T9 several times and was interdicted by all kind of pirates, what to do?

- follow his orders, let him get close, let him think you will comply and earn time
- boost to him with your heavy hull!!! and shoot all weapons
- after a couple of hits, your T9 is like new and his ship is below 90% with no shields
- He will retreat to recharge shields
- You jump ... TO ANOTHER SYSTEM with a near station, not hypercruise

This works for most pirate ships but for the big ones. For big ones you will loose the cargo and rebuy, but when respawn buy a suicidewinder, and wait for him in the next station!

Revenge is a dish, best served cold!

-sigh- .. like .. 1000th time now.
NPC pirates follow rules, they operate mainly in anarchy systems (which is an issue for explorers trying to get back to the bubble, but also one that can be mitigated)
My main trade route used to be between two high security systems with 1 anarchy in between - anarchy was a nearly guaranteed interdiction, high sec not.
So the "invisible security" of High Sec works like a charm and if you want to avoid piracy, you can.

Mostly they are less than useless. And more on the psycho side than the pirate side... (that goes for NPC cops and bounty hunters too). Other than as a distraction, they're pretty pointless.
Of course, the new AI may change all that. We can only wait.

Sure, but in that case, don't expect willing victims.

And now we see the real issue starting to appear. Most of these players that pirate or "mine salt" don't really want to "be the bad guy." If you are actually the bad guy, guess what? People fight back. They resist any way they can. THEY DON'T LIKE YOU. Most pirate/griefers want the other player to lose so they feel powerful, but they don't want the effort of an actual fight and can't stand the emotional trauma of actually being disliked. They just wanna be loved, but lack the social skills to play nice like the smarter kids. Hence the attention seeking griefers and "I just wanna be a nice pirate" players.

BTW....the OP is the guy that destroyed my T6 and convinced me to leave Open. So far, I haven't found much reason to go back.

I would honestly lock ~50% of threads around here and warn myself just for off topic reasons.

Haha, just watched it. I think there was some unpleasant finger action happening just before he went T-nope. The winner looked like a guy who really doesn't mind winning any way he can. I'm sure there are also fighters who would be upset for not getting to finish the set - then again those also probably wouldn't cause the same situation.
