LGBTQ+ Flags as ship paint jobs?

I'm not LGBTQ+ I'm a straight white male, does my life matter ?, and if so how do I get a flag for the millions of non LGBTQ+ people whose lives matter as well.

What do you call a goose that chases a ganda, Propaganda :)

Indeed, where's the flag for being a straight white bloke?

(countdown to how long it takes some smart alec to post a KKK flag)

Why do people have to be "defined" by their sexuality? Just be who you are and make it become normal, jumping up and down and shouting about it makes you a target for the haters every time.

And before someone spouts the usual ignorant nonsense that as a white striaght male I couldn't possibly understand discrimination as I've never ever had it, I have a mental illness and have been discriminated because of that on numerous occasions and many times by people acting on behalf of the UK goverment.

ps you dont know what i do outside of this forum.
You are all key board warriors, I have yet to see a single active LGBTQ+ flag in the middle east, to date I haven't seen a single ONE, Iran nothing, Saudi nothing, Iraq, nothing, Yemen, nothing, UAE nothing, Qatar nothing, Egypt nothing, I follow your cause very closely and I have yet to see any meaningful presence in the middle east, so pray tell, what is it that you're busy with, messing with free democratic easy countries no doubt.

With all the country flag ship skins, it would be really cool if Frontier made some LGBTQ+ pride flag ship skins. For example, I'd buy with real money a skin of the pansexual flag, or the non-binary flag. If you do do this, make sure to use the more orange lesbian flag, the pink one has some issues. Even just a rainbow or progress flag livery would be great

this is the progress flag, for reference.
Thanks,
A queer CMDR.

Oh by the way, i don't think this technically possible with FD's current paintjob tech. IIRC, they are limited to 3.

So even the non-binary flag is out.

A developer doesn't need to add flags and symbols of non-game related causes to be inclusive. The policies of a company makes it inclusive.

Do you wave the WWF flag to show your inclusivity for nature? If not then go do that first.

It makes no sense lore-wise. In the year 3300 this would be a non-issue. What would be controversial is maybe marrying an android or alien.

just google Rare..

The presence of modern national flags and other symbolism on in-game paint jobs has already rendered any pretense of segregating real-world socio/geopolitics false.

It's weird, but country flags are different from gender-sexuality related flags.

just google Rare..

They didn't need to add it to the game though. It's a nice gesture, but they could've donated money to charities that support it.

A pirate doesn't give a damn about it. Real pirates, pillage, loot, terrorize the seas, all kinds of awful stuff. They're romanticized in video games.

they did need to add it to the game, this thread highlights why, donating money is one thing, making it mainstream and normalizing it is far more powerful, Rare is hugely respected for doing this more so than any donation.

donating money dont make the problem go away

Also, in case people didn't notice, Fdev already injects a healthy dose of real world politics in ED, in the form of Power Play. Should people be offended that Aisling is a cut and paste socialist, Zachary Hudson a typical patriotic conservative, or Felicia Winters a cookie cutter corporate democrat? Should they not be "allowed in the game" because of their agendas?

sighs I already have two warnings for political discussion. Can't say much more lol

That's an issue for the people of those countries to solve. Most people cannot afford to risk their life and/or freedom campaiging in other countries where the laws against such things are tough.

Wow really? this is exactly why im defending the OP, any opportunity where i can make a difference i will, it would be nice if you did the same.

ps you dont know what i do outside of this forum.
He's got a VERY valid point, I see more complaints about a christian couple not wanting to have a same sex couple stay at their Bed and Breakfast, yet relatively naff all said about countries where Homosexuality is still illegal and has extremely bad judicial consequences. It's like complaining about one of your neighbours slapping a child, and calling the police on them, yet ignoring the black and blue child on the other side. It's better if people made a difference where it is REALLY needed, rather than on stupid stuff like a flag in a game.

And to be very frank I don't care what sexual antics others on his forum get up to or not. And that flag is ALL about someones sexuality, it doesn't need to be broadcast IMO.

That's almost the default of most flags in the western world, and if you don't like those you're free to make one. You might look like a buffoon advocating for the all-round most privledged class in the world, but don't let that stop you.

Why do people have to be "defined" by their sexuality?

Society has made it a point to label and categorize, and has used such criteria to segregate, persecute, and repress.

Personally, I don't label myself on gender/sexuality spectrums, but there is no way for me to avoid the labels and presumptions of society at large; to them I present as masculine and straight, and am treated accordingly. Usually this means I'm treated a lot better than a lot of other people with other possible combinations of those perceived criteria, for absolutely no good reason.

Regardless, it's not your or my place to tell others how they should or should not define themselves.

And before someone spouts the usual ignorant nonsense that as a white striaght male I couldn't possibly understand discrimination as I've never ever had it, I have a mental illness and have been discriminated because of that on numerous occasions and many times by people acting on behalf of the UK goverment.

Then you should have at least some perspective of what it's like to be judged and how, even if you don't acknowledge the labels that have been foisted upon you, that they can still matter. No one is forcing you to embrace those labels, but some chose to in order to show solidarity, dispel misconceptions, or take back facets of their identities they feel have been misappropriated.

So the poor sods in those countries continue to suffer but a flag NEEDS to be in a computer game?

Pushing a political agenda upon gamers who just want to enjoy a game about space exploration and space ships is not appropriate in my opinion. A company can support it in so many other ways.

Not everyone has to wave a flag or symbol of every cause in the world to show their support.
