LIFETIME Expansion pass, and Python Mk2

Yes - it depends on whether you interpret "access to exclusive content" as "the only way to get access to this content" (nothing yet and unlikely in future) or "includes the various pre-order exclusives" (yes for both Horizons and Odyssey)

In other words, Frontier failed big time with LEP on deliver its "promise". They should really used diffrent wording back then, as if someone was any bit naive back in 2014, preety sure they might interpret it exacly as : LEP - Access to all new content (save for "regular" cosmetics), especially since its was quite expensive - cant remember price well but it was like 3 times much as base game wich was about 40 pounds at time... But who would knew at time, that new ships added 10 years later will be never count/treated as new content... oh well because "reasons". But hey, one thing they got wich is nice, its probly midnight paintjobs for (all or more like almost all) ships, and of course snowflake and snowman its surely a thing that anyone wants and are jelly if they dont.

The Cobra Mk IV counts as exclusive content, yes, but the Cobra Mk IV is not part of the LEP.

"The Cobra Mk IV is exclusively for players who upgraded to Elite Dangerous: Horizons during its first year."
But LEP owners did get it anway since they did got horizons as it was part of LEP
I dont recall any LEP owner that would make fuss about not getting mk4, and certainly would recall such drama in that forum if that where to happen.

do you launch the game through steam or direct through frontier?

if you log into your frontier account online (which i cant do as i cant remember my password right now to check) you should have a bunch of keys on your account one of which should be for Ody.
Turns out if you link your Steam Account with your Frontier Account, it simply shows up as an option in your Steam Library once updated. All good. Thanks for the shout though fella. ;)

I got LEP for 180USD in 2015, just over a year after putting 75USD for Beta.

Kinda steep when you think about it in retrospect...but its what me from 10 years ago thought was worth the expendable income. I spent a similar amount of money on Squadron 42 (what I paid for, not Star Citizen) at the time. I was really excited about the space sim genre rising.

So...looking at that price tag now, and what I've gotten for it...I do feel a little shorted. But its been so long and I've put so many hours in...I can't be all that mad. That money went towards paying devs to build the incomplete features, at the time. Still nets out to cheap entertainment in comparison to other media...so, eh, uhm....I'm so angry give me stuff, I guess.

$500 HOTAS, $600 pedals, $500 VR... throwing in a $180 LEP was the cheapest part of playing Elite Dangerous for me! :D (And it's only fair that the studio get some of that money instead of just peripheral-makers)

I didn't really expect it to pay for itself by an accountant's standards, but it's been worth it to me (eg getting stuff like the MarkIV without even having to be aware of the pre-order promotion, so I can take a 6 month break to play other stuff without FOMO, etc)

£300 hotas
£600 VR
£500 flight seat
£500 wheel and pedals
£4k gaming rig (and work)
£300 kick-starter, ddf and lep
Ten years and 1000s of hours playing ED with ultra gfx in VR...priceless!!!

Oh wow now ppl list the spend money and say hey the expensive LEP was cheap......
The thing is at the time LEP was offered for the highest price, Frontier said there will be more paid expansions and the Horizons one was the one at that time.
Later on Frontier decided that the next expansions will be free of charge.
So basicly the LEPs got screwed because of that.
However after many years Odyssey was the next paid expansion, half ready and gootten a lot of negative feedback.
Yeah the LEP owner had not to pay for it, but still need 1-2 more paid expansions to break even.

Do i care for it anymore? No i dont even play the game much to not anymore.
LEP owners had some beta access to the free expansions, but nowadays only social media players get access to beta servers.
Yeah that stuff is not an expansion, you only need beta servers to test small patches. There is no new content in thouse for sure.

Is a new ship an expansion to the game? I thought over it and came to the conclusion, yes kinda. Does it matter? Not really, what matters in ED?
So the next thing if thouse ships are added free of charge it is not a paid expansion right? But wait you have to pay arx to have them sooner. So are thouse ships a paid expansion? I think yes. Do they have benefits? I dont know, i heard they have no buyback costs? If so does it matter in ED? Depends, maybe not to me but for other ppl.

If they have no buyback costs, i would say its an advantage, you cant archive in game. You can only archive no buyback costs if you buy thouse ships with arx.

But again it does not matter to me or bother me.
I logged in in August after serveral months, did a little community goal stuff, did see that my carrier burned around 800 Mil for beeing a worthless just there ship and saw i could now go and buy the Python MK2.
Then i was thinking, why should i buy that ship, outfit and engineer it? Sure i can fly around with it a bit but i dont think i would use it much or at all. So i logged off without buying anything.
I think i still like ED, but there is nothing that can keep me playing, i still get bored so fast. There might be awesome credit earning possibilitys, but i have money, i dont need more money. the only thing that burns money is that useles expensive carrier.

The thing why i get bored so fast is, because i have to wait so much time to arrive at the spot i want to go.
I dont mind to navigate and choose, but hyperjump countdown, hyperjump, frameshift travel, getting out and normal travel all that is useless time wasting.
All that stuff takes way longer then to actual buy and sell at the station.
If you do some combat it might be ok to have that time wastig untill you arive but overall its the number 1 killer for me.
the 2nd killer is this anoying material gathering for engineering. Oh bless god i was there when i just could relog and collect the stuff over and over, but today come on.
Ok Frontier have now changed that, i did not test it out. The only reason to test it would be buy the Python MK2, outfit and then upgrade it.
Man i just get bored by writing that. The time wasting traveling to everywhere spending hours to have the ship outfitted and engineered with a low buyback. Nah, go away with that. For what? To store in my carrier?

Isnt it sad, that im so fed up with this time wasting stuff, that i dont want to play this really good game? If i had more fun stuff, i would play it more, but the time wasting stuff gets me always very fast. Its so sad.

the SCO drive drastically cuts the time In super cruise. some say by too much .
it's sounds to me like you dont enjoy the majority of the game tbh. that said I dont disagree with everything you said!

relogging to get stuff however is a terrible mechanic. that crap needs to end imo but at the same time balance it so people don't feel compelled to have to do it.

Well, i was here at start, when everything took much longer. Like scanning planets you had to fly near them, trading with a low outcome and so on.
I played quite some time, i basicly did everything you could do in ED/Horizons and a lot in Odyssey.
I have enough credits, i have all ships aside from the python MK2.
Basicly its nothing to do for me, and i get anoyed when things take unessesary long because it was designed that way.

Relogin was a good option for me. You needed stupid amounts of hard to get data or materials. You also traded em with a los to upgrade some of your equipment or ship.
Then you needed serveral trys to get a good outcome. You really think i like spend 10 mins or even 20 mins of stupid fly away, go in sc, move back, leave sc, land and then get 1 data or material of the needed 50? Sometimes u dont get anything too.

Its a time wasting mechanic, if i can speed up things to get back to the more fun part i will. What other ppl do or enjoy does not bother me. Most of the time i played solo anyway, a few times in PG.
I like the game, how it looks, how it feels how it sounds, i just dont like unnessesary time wasting. Back then i spend a lot time in the game and i had plenty of free time.
Today i only have very limited time to play games and wasting time is a no go. There are serveral other games that cost playtime aswell but i stay entertained or have fun doin so.
I dont have fun seeing the countdown for a jump, then stay 15-20 seconds in Hyperspace, then leave, turn away from sun, fly around it, position to the next jump point and do this all over. Not to mention the time wasted to fly in sc to something.
It might be a part of the game and there for a reason, but after so many years it just anoys me and it forces me to log off after a short while.
Well and because i dont have anything to do in the game anymore and a lot things they could have changed for the better but are still bad i see no point to waste more time to earn some cash out of something or to get some more stars at the elite ranks.

I come back to fly some of my ships, do some bounty hunting or enter combat zomes mostly on foot and thats it.
Then i take serveral weeks or even months break, come back get anyoed again leave it be.

I'm not sure how new ships count as "current and future Seasons of Elite: Dangerous" or, as it goes, how they can be interpreted as exclusive content for LEP if that's your interpretation.
Anything released within a season is part of that season.
Even paint jobs.
Early access and beta test is pretty much a same thing with different name. Let that pass and soon the next season will be called as expansion and therefor doesn't fall under fdevs promise

The only people who invested a lot and got 'shafted' were the very high end backers- those who bought the rights to publish stories, or those who wanted the model rewards (which were sort of delivered IIRC).

The KS guys like me who put in £200 have gotten a lot back over the ten years. Has it been smooth sailing? No. At various points things have been rocky but from my own position calling it all a 'scam' is silly.
I agree i paid £150 back in the KS days and ive had over 500 hrs playing and a 6 year break but im coming back soon and it was worth the money on PC.

LOL - the $ to FD pales in comparison to how much I've spent on harware to optimize ED...

So much screen realestate, but by comparison it looks like he only has a small porthole as a canopy to see outside the ship. Would be awesome if you could extend the whole cockpit and side views to all of those screens.
