Pugwash - you bought the game, bought the expansion pass and hang out on forums discussing said game. I hate to break it to you, but you are a nerd. Welcome to the club. Acceptance is your best bet.

My wife likes to rub it in - she's even shown her friends my man cave, complete with flight sim chair, HOTAS and DK2. I've never invested in a game like this one, but accept that this makes me a closet-geek. So I drive a muscle car to compensate. It's got go-faster stripes "and everything". :)

You need justify your self to know one, remember you will never win an argument with a woman,Because your points have to make sense. You could also tell her that 400 years ago it was quite legal for a man to beat his wife and that maybe we could also in the spirit of social progress be more accepting of nerds

Separate bank accounts. I never told her how much i pledged on Kickstarter, despite her asking a few times. I really enjoyed the launch party at Duxford, and having my own station and planet always gives me a thrill.

To counter this, I currently have 11 boxes of her summer shoes to put up in the attic, and to bring down her autumn/winter collection. I think I spent less...

I bought a lifetime pass and my wife found out! Awkward!

She has now told all her friends who think I am nerd :(

What excuses have any of yoos used?

Rather be a happy nerd then part of the depressing masses.

Besides, im sure each of your friend has some interest or hobby they spend alot of time and money on, which makes them nerds too. If they dont, thars just sad.

Bro, I am a nerd (not to be confused with these new hipster type nerds either) and my wife darn well knows it. I'd say it's a fair trade off as I keep all of her electronics and computer related devices running and updated. She even brags about it on FB to her friends. (Yes, I let her use FB - compromises.) Fortunately, she's a bit of a nerd herself.

If you have to make excuses to your wife to avoid scorn from her mates and she takes any pleasure from that scorn then A: consider divorce B: Does the opinion of her mates really mean anything to you?

Not sure if you have kids, but my excuse has always been that the kids want to watch TV in the family room despite the 8 other TVs in the house, so in order to stay in the same room with the kids and not put on TV for myself, I play the game on my gaming laptop. After all, you can only take so much Disney movies and or Disney Channel over the course of a day.

So, I seem as though I am part of the team, while taking one for the team. Works so far... so long as I don't use an Oculus, because I cannot completely zone everyone out even though during some dogfights the last thing I can do is "feed the dogs" or "make our son lunch".

No excuses.

The correct thing to do is buy an Elite t-shirt, cap and mug and wear them whenever anyone comes to visit. :)

Where are you supposed to waer the... wait, nevermind. :D

Consider yourselves extremely fortunate that I'm not a Photoshop wiz. ;)

Just out of curiosity, but is it common that a husband has to explain to his wife what he spends *his* money on?
If so... why? Perhaps it's because I don't believe I owe anyone an explanation for my spending habits that it honestly makes no sense to me. :p

So you're not allowed to spend money on yourself? what kind of a weird arrangement do you have with her?

Sadly it seems pretty common.
Its a sad fact and something I only expected from american sitcoms.
Yet Ive seen several friends end up in such relationships. es me off tbh but they seem oblivious to reason among all that "love".

It really isn't like that. Just banter really. I just thought it might throw up some amusing stories.
