You know... I'm thinking something along the lines of...

More along the lines of:

Seem crazy, he may; but more than meets the eye, there is.

Hi!

1) This is something we are still tweaking and will be tweaking through beta, the higher rank the more likely branches are though. Some of the branches are optional, so the contact may ask you to do it, if you do great, if not...ok. Some are not.
2) Yes, each mission has a few, though some of them are similar from mission to mission
3) That is the plan, but again that is something we are consistently looking at. Give us time in beta to get it right.

Surely, with some types of factions, a threat of violence is a surer way to get co-operation than the promise of credits? ;)

Adam,

Regarding inbox messages, can we maybe make it a little more obvious that you have one. For me personally I find that I don;t even notice them coming in half the time.

Do we have any plans to fix that? Even if its just a flashing icon to make it more obvious.

A "MESSAGE INCOMING" flashing in bold right in front of your eyes then moving up into the comms ui would
help. I tend to miss those tiny inbox messages as well.

3) Will the new (credit related) branching offers be more tempting in 2.1? Currently, the counter-offer is insignificant - especially, as the player is usually mainly interested in the the reputation gain and the reputation will in fact take a hit, if accepting the counter offer -> even more credits would be necessary to make the offer worthwhile and tempting!

3) That is the plan, but again that is something we are consistently looking at. Give us time in beta to get it right.

I guess the design motto here is still 'Choices and Consequences'. You can chuck a mission and give it to the faction's rivals, but you should expect a larger rep loss with the giver than you would have gained had you completed the mission normally.

Where I think it will get really interesting is actions which severely damage faction rep. Right now it is too easy to be friends with nearly everyone. There should be more cases where taking an alt branch opportunity will end up with more 'Die, you double-crossing sack of biowaste!' interdictions, or entering an Anarchy system after handing in 5MCr of pirates' bounties in the system next door will get you hunted down like a dog by the pirate faction.

Mission consequences: please, please, please have consequences that involve things other than money.

I'd love to see a choice: stop the mission, or person x dies- if you let them die, you get a consequence of your rep taking a massive nosedive.

Or, you have a set time to save them before they get killed, so you can be a hero too.

Get in the bad books with your faction one too many times they should hunt you down like a dog. lol
Seriously though the consequences for doing stupid things should hit and hit hard.

I actually like the idea of former hero turned rogue, makes for interesting roleplay.

Hi,

I did have a founder answer but we ran out of time. There are a couple of founder only variants of missions in for 2.1. They will be more rewarding variants of a couple of the templates you know. It's what we could do for 2.1 and we want to try to find time to work on them later.

To clarify, missions require you to be a founder or elite, so the only rank gated missions in the game.

Adam

Cheers Adam, that's good to hear!

Could I ask if anyone has taken a look at why the original "Founder or Elite" missions aren't appearing at Jameson Memorial? (A bug was raised last month and it was going to be "chased up" by QA)

They used to spawn everywhere but a change went into v2.0/v1.5 to restrict their location to "Founders World" and they've not been seen since. Will they be reappearing in 1.6/2.1, or any chance of (presumably) a server fix to reactivate them in the meantime?

Thanks!

FYI The lost missions are:
Obfuscated In The Outer Rim: Answering The Call Of Adventure
Dark Wheel Seeks Diplomats For Discreet Delivery: Sealing The Deal
The Silent Song Of The Spheres: Elite Traders Wanted For Secure Transport Assignment
Discrete Redistribution Agent Desired: Elite Combat Pilot Required For Black Budget Mission
The Wheel Of Time Turns: What Was Lost Will Soon Be Found
Mastering the Maleficent: Stop the spread of Misfortune

Hiya Adam, not sure if you are still around, but there was a question I was hoping to ask in relation to assassination missions. Especially as it relates to branching mechanics.

Will we sometimes have situations where our target is no longer in the system he was supposed to be in, & so we will have to seek out info as to his new whereabouts (via an in-system faction member, or via the salvage of a black box, or from a distressed pilot....that kind of thing)?

and we want to try to find time to work on them later.

Considering that people stumped up large sums of money to help FD during the KS and in the process received the Founder perk, given these missions have been broken / missing for a considerable amount of time I feel FD's response to the problem to be somewhat lacking. (This isn't a pop at you but FD in general)

Hi Adam.
Will players still be able to exploit missions by stacking them, using mode swapping in 2.1 ?
