Hardware & Technical Logitech Extreme 3D Pro? - NOT FORCE 3D PRO

Hi guys, noob here.

I'm using your great layout but I'm encountering a weird issue I cannot seem to correct...

While using the Menu to my left, I can use the POV toggle to select everything on the first page...but it will not let me go to the next page (Navigation) and beyond. Thus, I cannot dock with any stations....

If you have any suggestions, please let me know :-/

Noob here as well. I have everything working as described (Thanks!). I have a weird issue. I can't use my mouse to select things in the menus, or is this not available? I've seen YouTubers navigate the menu system of the ship with ease by using the mouse. I can't even get a pointer to select or click on things. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Not anything wrong I think. I just haven't bound mouse controls for menus, and I'm not sure how to do it.

You can of course experiment yourself - if you do, please post results here.

Josto, thanks for posting the diagram of the joystick settings! It helps make the connections for the visual learner in me.

Thank you all for the posts, this has been a very informative thread. I'm taking baby steps in the single player tutorials, learning with keyboard and mouse vs trying out my trusty Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

Has anyone out there tried mixing inputs with a 3D mouse and our favorite joystick?

need a little help (neeb) Have a extreme 3d pro all the controls work but when i pitch up/down and roll there is alot of dead movement must pitch all most up or down before it move then it just take off no fine movement hard to target. did the caliabration no help. in the cali screen i can see/make fine movements just not in came... Help

Broxx, this might help. The config screen has multiple lines for the same ship command depending on the kind of input(s) you plan to use for that command. I recommend setting the pitch axis instead of pitch up to your joystick pull back input. The former uses the full range of motion on the stick; the latter treats the input like a button press, giving zero or 100%, with no fine control. This solution should work well for the pitch, roll, and yaw axes for rotation and you can use the throttle flap for your throttle axis, but then you are left with nothing for your translational axes: up/down, nudge forward/backward, strafe right/left. Those might be best suited for button press inputs. A popular choice seems to be to use the hat at the top of the joystick for four of those six directions. Good luck!

Mapped for MAC last night.

I do not see this, very popular, joy stick in the settings for the game. I have been trying to mess around with doing it custom but it is actually pretty difficult.

Does anyone have this joystick working and how they mapped it?

Here is the mapping i moved over from my PC.. some quick tweaks with Text edit got the mac to read the .binds file. Please forward, re post where necessary this is my first ED forum posting.

Here is its on my business server: http://arkansasaerials.com/share/Custom.binds

or drop the /Custom.binds if it doesn't post a save option and you can pull it from the file tree. or copy past the code with a text editor into your exiting binds file.

i do too have same issue as Broxx, but I do not understand your comment. Would you mind explaining it in greater details please?

Start game
Select OPTIONS
Select CONTROLS
Scroll down until you see FLIGHT ROTATION
Check that you have bound your stick axes, not buttons (click on the pic below to see it bigger, and again to see it fullsize)

For example: if you have selected ROLL LEFT as [JOY X-AXIS -], the game will treat moving your joystick as digital button, meaning that up to a point (50% movement?) game receives "button not pressed = do not roll" and after that game receives "button pressed = full roll". Leave the PITCH UP, PITCH DOWN, ROLL LEFT, ROLL RIGHT, YAW LEFT and YAW RIGHT boxes empty. Or assign some keyboard keys to them if you want a backup method of ship control.

Same example correct: select ROLL AXIS, and move your stick, it should become like in the pic I linked. This means that ROLL is assigned to an analog joystick, giving all the nuances between 0% and 100% input the digital button option lacks.

For a cheap stick like Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, those deadzone settings come in handy. If you experience drift, meaning that if your ship rotates without you touching the stick, adding deadzone stops that (like I have had to do in my bindings). Deadzone is a zone around stick center position, where the game receives "no movement", even if stick sensors (potentiometers usually) report slight movement.

actually my only issue is flight throttle's increase/decrease throttle; roll, yaw and pitch seems to work fine for me.
where is z-axis on my joystick?) here is my flight throttle:

i switched to u-axis and it's much better now) i do skirmish training fairly easy, but sidewinder face-off i die almost right away(
it seems like my weapon is different, in skirmish, my weapon has aim aid and in sidewinder no(

Navigation/Contacts Panel = 1
Comms Panel = 2
Systems Panel = 3
Radar Panel = 4
Reset Focus (return to 'normal view') = Left Shift
Back in panels & menus = Q
Back to Galaxy map from the System View = Q
Next Tab in Panels = E
Previous Tab in Panels = W
Quick Comms = Spacebar

How do I select panel and go up/down in panel (to request docking)?

Again new update, the selectable bindings file for Release 1.3.07 ³ with new internal structure:
<obsolete>
