Longest time out of the bubble?

I've done enough exploration to learn that I'm not an explorer. My longest venture out was just over six weeks, playing nearly everyday, in a pre-Horizons Corvette. I have a great deal of respect for those Cmdrs that main as explorers and/or spend months at a time out in the black.
I'm similar, I like the idea of long term exploration but my relatively short attention span in Elite makes me reconsider pretty quickly. Furthest I've been was the galactic centre, and longest I've been away was maybe 3-4 weeks, only returned to the bubble from Colonia last night (via suicidewinder - the trip out there was soul destroying enough) and already I'm thinking of leaving the bubble again. Maybe shorter stints are the answer (~1k ly's max), plus I hear the Witchhead Nebula is busy around this time of the year...

Yes the word "colonization" was excessive.

The words "scout", "ambassador", "representative of the species" seem more appropriate.

I was kind of hoping you'd have provided video or screenies of commanders dumping pairs of lifepods on distant worlds, or into orbit round ELWs/WWs thus not only answering, but providing for hours of fun speculating about their survival, but I guess, we get what we get.

That is a fun idea. Maybe I'll actually get a few pods and drop them on an Earth-like World. I do have some cargo space since I'm that kind of weirdo who flies a battle ready Krait with A-grade shields and Boosters so adding a few tons of lifepods wouldn't hurt.
It will take me a while to get somewhere I can actually get said pods but still I think I'll try. Maybe I'll even rename my ship Amun to make it more fitting.
