Lore questions. :)

Have the Club been known by a different name in the past, or are they a relatively new group who rose after the fall of Galcop and INRA?

Was the Club a request from Frontier/Braben?

The Club are a representation of the Military Industrial Complex of the combined human powers in the ED universe. They were created by David, yes.

Cheers,

Drew.

Hello.
I´d like to ask something a little bit off topic maybe, but as this is your OP i´ll give it a try.
I would be interested in buying and reading some of your books.. but not in english. Are there any plans to translate them into other languages -like german for example-and distribute them over the world in paper, audio or digital forms maybe?
Regards, S.

Hi - unfortunately not at the moment. We would need a willing publisher in the local country.

Cheers,

Drew.

Probably out of scope

But has His Imperial Highness Harry been permanently sidelined.

In one video DB mentioned he was connected to some faction but it was never clear if it was Aislings or not.

Do you have any insights?

Nothing particular on this one, he does seem to have been written out of the Lore. The antics of the Duval family were mostly penned by M. Brookes as I recall.

Cheers,

Drew.

Final questions... honest :D

To the best of your knowledge, have Frontier taken extracts from your Oolite Saga (non-canon) to be incorporated in the E: D universe? Obviously I'm not talking about Rebecca, because she was your character.. I'm really referring to the Q-Bomb and the loss of the Quirium formula.

Is there a link between your Spanish-speaking characters - one in Oolite, one in Reclamation (other than the language)?

I'm pretty sure they haven't, atleast, not deliberately. :)

No, there's no link between Luko and previous spanish characters.

Cheers,

Drew.

Off-topic but I just finished first Oolite book "Status Quo". Extraordinary stuff.
That battle against mother-ship... would be "take my money!!!"".
Notes are also worth reading to understand author's (and many players) passion.

Also crossed my mind if those books are "purged" from plain sight because some themes from the books will be be used in the present game.

I couldn't possibly comment. ;)

Cheers,

Drew.

Drew,

Do we know why Jasmina Halsey added Azaleach as a last-minute addition to her tour? All I can find out is that it was for "classified" reasons, and then her ship blew up on the way there, in the same manner that the Antares was destroyed in the past. There's a lot surrounding the Antares explosion, and Jasmina Halsey's VP was apparently killed as he was trying to investigate it further.

Thanks!

The Jasmina Halsey storyline has been left unconcluded at present. I don't know if it will be resumed. It was interesting.

Cheers,

Drew.

Drew,

Don't know if you're still keeping an eye on this thread or not, but if so is Ambassador Cuthrick Delaney in Premonition the same person as Proctor Cuthrick Delaney in Lave: Revolution?

Yes, he is. He was much younger at the time of Lave Revolution. The author of that book asked for him to be included as a link between the stories.

Cheers,

Drew.

Col 70 is a big area, with lots of unlocked spaces within. Are the Col 70 things you refer to all in the Permit Locked parts or are any in the non-permit locked parts?

Not sure I'm afraid. The permit locks have changed since I originally referenced them.

Cheers,

Drew.

“...Formidine Rift, which before the advent of the frame shift drive had a reputation as a kind of Bermuda Triangle. Few who venture into the Rift return to tell the tale.” Source : Galnet

Since the name Formidine rift name predates the Exodus project, do you suppose there is more to fear there than just the edge of the universe? Do you suppose there might be more to find out there?

That is a very good question.

Cheers,

Drew.

Drew, so good to see you posting here again. Admittedly, seeing you pop into the FRift megathread has been missed. Spent a lot of time after seeking out Club tangents to see what happened and eventually had to move on.

Do you have any guesses as to what etymology is behind the name 'Raxxla'? I cannot find any root syntax or semantic that actually provides a source for the word.
Given that those who may have found it we're not spacefaring pre-Homo Sapiens, surely no one just grunted out the sounds.

Fly safe, write dangerously!

The word Raxxla appears to have been invented by Robert Holdstock (author of the Dark Wheel). It does appear in some of his other works.

A question about Mic Turner: according to a tourist beacon in-game (Tourist Spot 0121; Mic Turner History, location: Alioth), Mic Turner was born in 3205 at Jones Colony in the Essafa system. However, I have been unable to find the Essafa system in ED and there are three outposts and one surface port called Jones Colony, none with any tourist beacons with more information. So the question: has Essafa been renamed to something else and if so what, or is it not in game?

I'll have to investigate, not sure.

Cheers,

Drew.

Drew, To what extent is the old lore regarding Polaris still valid? Did Sirius Corp possibly have hidden motives in building all those stations dotted between the bubble and Sothis ?

I wouldn't trust the Sirius corporation at all.

I suspect some of the Polaris lore is valid, but until we find a way to get a Polaris permit...

Cheers,

Drew.

Greetings Drew,

Good to see you hanging around. This is in regards to all the books being subtly connected. I've read most of the books and for the ones I haven't I'll eventually get to, but it seems to me that all of them seem to suggest human enhancement programs being ran by "people". Most of them being done with drugs. Are all these drugs the same or are they different?

Also is it possible to find out who is running these programs in game?

I suspect a big Pharmaceutical company being used as a front for another shadowy hand, but would be interested in knowing more of anything you know in regards to this matter.

Thanks!

Much of the population of the ED universe is manipulated in multiple ways by the powers that be.

Cheers,

Drew.

Some depressing questions for Drew if you are here:

FD are known to have a 'Lore Bible' that details everything in ED from its stories, characters, creatures and settings. How extensive was it, and do you think FD are sticking to it?

They certainly did have one, but I'm not allowed to talk about its contents. Whether they still use it is unclear, to me, at least.

Cheers,

Drew.

Thats a very fine hat - is it tinfoil lined?

More on topic - you mention Sirius Corp, but how much can we trust the other groups in ED - I'm thinking particularly Universal Cartographic, The Pilots Federation and Galnet ?

We put alot of store on codex information etc. and in our star maps - are they trust worthy?

I've always maintained at least one Powerplay character is a club member, with others being directly manipulated.

is the Formildine rift mystery over or is there more to it still left to be discovered?

I always felt that there was more to the Dynasty conspiracy; lore is about 3 possible relocation candidates, and we're only seeing two. The Conflux sites are half-way to where Jacques Station ended up. The Zurara is possibly half way to wherever the second candidate is. And the third location... we have neither the half-way point, nor the destination itself.
