Make the worst DLC possible

But my beloved seaurchin never got banned ;)
😆👍
Oooh all this arguing reminds me of the good old Zoo Tycoon 2 forum days. A discussion would start off with "I wish we had ocelots in the game" and a few hours later I'd come back and find people arguing whether or not God exists and calling each other uneducated morons, then someone would delete their account or something along those lines. Some things never change haha.
Damn, seems like I became Part of that Community too late or I was in the wrong Forum. That sounds like Fun

I realized there was no God after the South America pack had no ocelots 👎 Thanks Frontier

There was legit a time when one forum, I think maybe Gaia, basically turned into r/atheism. Also heated discussions were so common and modders would just leave the community because they'd get so sick of the people there.
I never joined Gaia’s forums lol I almost did though. I posted a little on a old site called ztjungle or something. I don’t think it exists anymore.

I’m clearly not welcome here

Leaf -- I for one never want you to leave or feel left out.

Thank you for being here.
That you for the wonderful and beautiful mods you have given us.
Thank you for your videos, builds, play-throughs, and collaborations.
Thank you for trying to be a bridge between content creators and other players.
Thank you for your humor.
Thank you for advocating for both more official animals and for filling the huge gaps that will inevitably be left.
Thank you for your love and knowledge of animals.
Thank you for advocating for a North American animal pack.
Thank you for the marine animals.
Thank you for advocating for larger packs in general.
Thank you for offering new ideas to make the game more innovative and challenging.
Thank you for staying involved in so many different parts of the community.
Thank you for your love of the game.

Sincerely. Thank you.

I also understand how often that puts you in a tough spot, from forces outside of your control, and I'm sorry for that.

It's not your fault that there is a real or perceived gap between (some) creators and (some) players that needs to be bridged at all. Thank you for continuing to try to bridge it, even when the gap feels much larger than it should, and even when the bridge is longer and the journey more trepidiateous .

It's not your fault that (some) other creators or (some) other modders may want the game to end sooner than (some) other players do. Or use that to try to determine what should be included or excluded from future dlcs, or how many there should be. Thank you for continuing to advocate for both official and modded animals, and official and modded pieces.

It's not your fault that there has only been one official animal pack, and that it therefore carries such strong feelings and baggage. Thank you for trying to bridge those with humor, even if it still stings for many of us.

It's not your fault that there haven't been bigger packs. Or that maintaining pack price/size was used for so long by (some) others as an explicit argument against more animals prior to the SEA dlc (because we had to keep the animal count down to make room for pieces) and then again in the run up to the Africa dlc, that the newfound openness to larger, all-inclusive packs now that another animal pack is conceivably on the horizon, feels suspicious to some (we can expand an animal pack to include more pieces, but couldn't expand a mixed pack to include more animals). Thank you for reminding us that there is still a win-win solution that is possible. And thank you in advance for pushing for that solution again the next time a mixed pack is anticipated, the same as when an animal pack might be.

It's not your fault that the forums are one of the few places where all these different interests still interact honestly, and thus feel more difficult (toxic) than the platforms where people have self-selected more, hear more from people who already agree with them, and share the same jokes based on that commonality. Thank you for still being here, and thank you equally for being "there" pushing them towards that bridge just as hard.

And most of all, thank you for being you!

A Cryptid Pack

Sasquatch, Loch Ness Monster, Chupacabra, Mongolian Death Worm, and Jackalope (Exhibit).

Only hints of the animals actually being there is you might see some physics interactions with something in an exhibit at random times. Guests just scratch their head and wonder if there is anything in the exhibits.

Adding a Cryptozoologist worker...who basically harasses guests.and occasionally wanders into exhibits forgetting to close the gates behind him.

Phew, that takes me back lmao. The forums weren't all bad though. ZT2 Round Table was legendary for a solid 5-6 years around the late 00's, early 2010's.

Without rehashing anything that's already been said....Leaf likes to take the p*** out of things, that's his sense of humor. There's nothing wrong with that, that's why I like watching his content and talking with him. I definitely get the feeling of "CC's hate animals and animal packs and only want construction pieces" because there are a few (key word, few) who do think like that. But not all of them do, certainly not the ones who spends countless hours making free content. I was in the camp of getting angry over stuff like this, and I realized it was a bit hypocritical of me to be mad that some CC/YT people attacked the forums because my main argument was that we aren't a monolith and there's a ton of different opinions and ideas on here. So if you turn around and say "All CC's hate animal packs" then you're doing the exact same thing.

It shouldn't go unnoticed that Leaf has been trying to be super active on here, which I love. And I feel supper crappy when he can't even make a slightly edgy joke on here and just get's jumped on for it, when I was one of the people asking him to be active here in the first place.

I'll end by saying this whole argument is really stupid, no one's opinions are going to change, and nothing good will come of incidents like this in the future. So if someone has an opinion or makes a joke you absolutely cannot stand, consider:

A: Walking away from your device
B:Scrolling past it

Cheers :)

in the past most support for marine animals comes from Zoo Tycoon nostalgia with little understanding or care about the way the zoo community is heading with regards to those kinds of animals.
[...]
Or, in other cases, people simply aren't willing to believe the new information we're always learning about captive marine animals because they don't want to confront the fact that Frontier might take that into consideration.

Those are some... uh... arguable statements... To say the least.

BUT, staying on topic:

Worst DLC? Animal Pack, copy-paste of very cool species but already in the game, and choosing the most uncommon subspecies in captivty from each one of them (basegame Himalayan brown bear as an inspiration):

African forest elephant
Qinling giant panda
Mexican grey wolf
Panamanian white-throated capuchin
Mountain nyala
Somali ostrich
Eastern diamondback rattlesnake (EA)

Like, what a wasted bunch of really interesting animals.

The Somali Ostrich would be nice to have.
The Quinling Panda was only kept once in a Zoo as far as I know. I think African Forest Elephants still exist in one or two japanese Zoos.
Even though I think the Mexican Grey Wolf looks different enough, but again a American Wolf. The Rattlesnake looks different enough from the one in the Game.
Only 1 Animal in the List that I would really like to see in the Game (Somali Ostrich). Great Job

There’s a forest elephant in a zoo in Nigeria I think

I agree with most of what you said, but can't fully agree with this last part. We've been encouraged to use these forums as the place that Frontier gets direct feedback. If we let everything slide, then the feedback is going to be skewed.

Worst possible pack: a Fan Request pack that consisted solely of those requests that we disagreed with but remained silent about. Because we'd have no one to blame but ourselves.

The problem is that (even though leaf specifically didn't mean it like that) some people put a lot of push against animal packs, in pretty maniopulative ways. So it's hard to tell when people are just joking and when they agressively push their ideas with a "just joking" justifications.
