Making the unique Double-Engineered Missile Rack available via Tech Brokers is a great idea - hopefully other unique modules will come later too

Nor do I...
..but we both have fun in the game, don't we? That is all that matters at the end of the day ;)

No we are not. The game having to sacrifice mechanics that create higher risk to compliment the high reward or higher abilities leaves it boring and shallow. It makes optional achievements pointless and meaningless not just as a personal perception of them but in the scheme of the game.

the idea that this compromised gameplay doesn't impact players only has a basis in reality if this were a single player game. And even as a single player game it would be weak sauce.

Well its only fair if those that didnt do the special unlock requirements can now get it, that the cobra mk4 should also be made available in a similar fashion.

It all boils down to tbe same thing at the end of the day.

I'm not against releasing the Cobra mk IV to the greater public, but:
did FDEV use words "exclusive" and "forever" when the module was first made available?

Well "top 75%" is a pretty exclusive place.

Oh and btw, forever and exclusive are not from the same part of the description, so trying to combine the two is a bit pointless.

Oh really? 😂😂😂

Lo and behold, both words in the same paragraph, in sentences following one another:
" Elite Dangerous: Horizons will be available to pre-order on our store today, and I’m very happy to announce all existing Elite Dangerous players will receive a £10 loyalty discount off the Horizons retail price. Existing players will also unlock the exclusive Cobra Mk IV ship in Elite Dangerous: Horizons. The Cobra Mk IV will be available in the game only to players who joined us in the first year – forever. It’s our ‘thank you’ for your faith in the game, and you’ll see more of the Cobra Mk IV in Friday’s Peek Of The Week. "

And thus you have shown it does not say it will be" exclusive forever", as you tried to imply in your first post. They are parts of two very distinct sections of the description, and are seperate from one another.

Looks pretty simple to me.

Now available to 75% of the participating commanders is pretty much a very similar exclusivness. I worked hard ingame to get it specially, to achieve a place in that 75%. Why should anyone else be therefore eligable to get their hands on that rack when they did not bother/were not able to/did not want to/reasons.. at the time it could be got.

Personnally, I do not give a hoot if anyone can get the rack, or other things, in game down tbe line, but the principal behind it is important enough that it should be aired.

There should not be double standards applied.

One cost cash, the other was game time. I don't think there are double standards.

Lol, funny thinking you have there! They're not 'two very distinct' sections, and not separate.
They're in same section, right after another, the latter clarifying and adding to the former.
Look at the latter: " available in the game only to players who joined us in the first year – forever "
What does this part mean if not exclusivity without time limit?

Ok (y)
I'm having tremendous fun enjoying the game we have. Sorry, I thought you were having fun too 🤷‍♂️

Some people find incredibly boring things fun. My expectations are higher than a tech demo. If you're trying to argue that this game has anything more than grind mechanics then good luck, because any higher level game mechanics just dont exist. If you are arguing that the game is better off without them, i'd love to see how. Last time i checked, everyone considered everything you do in this game currently to be something of a punishment (as long as it's not the specific thing you're in the mood to do), hence the resistance to having to re-gather the materials to redo an engineering mod when it's lost.

ETA: So if Frontier 'nerfed' everything to force other players to fly around in ships of a similar build to those I am enjoying already, would that increase your enjoyment?

That's not what i said at all. i said players should be afraid of losing engineered ships. A fear of loss that simply doesn't exist in the rest of the game because credits are meaningless. Nobody is concerned with exploding and this would at least end that when you are leveraging highly engineered ships. With great power, will come great risk. That's good game design. That makes for a more interesting experience and introduces loadout strategy. That makes players less likely to abuse engineering without nerfing anything. It also means the game loops designed around getting those mods in the first place will have to be re-run by those who haven't mastered whatever gameplay they lost their ship in (which in of itself shouldn't be considered a punishment if the game loops in question were in any way fun or interesting)

edit: a compromised solution would be to add material cost to the rebuy that equates to the engineered mods on the ship so you dont have to physically goto the engineer to get them re-done but we could say that the insurance service will contract out having your mods re-done ... you just have to provide all the materials needed for the given mods. You can then select which ones you want (if you dont or can't get them all) on the rebuy screen.

The current solution of rebuys not costing anything different vs stock just doesn't make sense. The above compromise would at least make sense and not force players to fly around just to visit engineers and remember what their mods were etc.

So you didn't check with me when you checked everyone, then? (Perhaps you don't consider one who doesn't follow your own agenda to be part of everyone?)

You appear to dislike this game in its current format, do you even bother playing it?

But thank you for the polite intimation that anyone not you is boring, I'm certain that opinion is 100% correct.

Again, not what i said. I said you find boring things fun. Be defensive about it all you want, but you're only lying to yourself if you think the game's current game loops are good efforts in any role you pick at being more than entry level grind mechanics.

It's ok, you can admit that you dont like my idea because it would force you to re-collect materials if you died and the game loops involved are super dull and not fun and it would amount to a chore you would rather remain never having to do again. You can admit that the game loops in the game are super weak and repetitive and something that was mastered in the first month of playing the game and haven't scaled in difficulty with your abitiies or with rewards at all since.

It doesn't mean you have to stop playing just because you admit that the game is all grind mechanics where your actions are the same basic set that are repeated infinitely with no meaningful impact on the game.
