"Material drops at settlements provide only one item instead of three. This is intended"

Will talks about issues and he is saying, that it is working as intended -》 actual content and not future content.

I guess he said material an meant data, as the data is sometimes also called as material. Or have you seen an Databroker? ;-)

I believe this is correct DMaster - Nothing is getting changed. People have been reporting that Data Scans at settlements are only giving 1 drop when they used to give 3. Will is confirming that this is correct and will not be getting fixed in 3.03 or any other patch in the future as it is "working as intended".

Skimmer missions, that missions you probably will deny that you have done give a bunch of MEF.

This cannot be a coincidence huh?

Mr. Puritan and anti board-hopping desmasked?
I did from time to time few skimmers missions due a fact that different employers "stacked" kills (as intended) and it offered decent money (I used legal way with search skimmers around settlements so it was not about fast money). Not did these in 3.0 so not sure what you mean.

Indeed there is a problem in the vocabulary used by the Dev team.

As anyone tried Beta 3.0.3 to see if materials drops were affected anywhere ?

Alright so if this nerf is landing (WHY!!!??) what are Fdev going to do to make material gathering fun?
Or will we still be expected to pray:

Our Lord RNGesus give us this day our G5 material from the USS'S,
Lead us not into frustration and kill our Dav's Hope,
Let there be an equitable distribution of materials upon the settlements,
Deliver us from Grind and into the Material Traders Userous Haven,
Thine is the glory, the burning anger and the Braben.
Amen.

It were only G2 to a few G4 mats at Davs anyway.
Once you need G5 there is no reason to stay there.

Obviously they want more instance flipping.:S

Yes, they do, but not for the reasons you might think. They're gathering data to ensure one single galactic "instance" per player, per week, to fully eliminate (nerf) any benefits gained by logging off and logging on (instance flipping). This will eliminate mission stacking, material farming, and ensure that it takes the proper amount of time to move from a Sidewinder to a Hauler, and ensure it takes the proper amount of time to complete a Grade 1 to Grade 2 Engineering full upgrade (about 3 weeks), and the proper amount of time to complete a full Grade 5 upgrade (1 year) - Per Module.

Y'all kept b---hing you wanted "grind" and you wanted Elite to be more like EVE, so here it comes.

And for you "more realistic economy types", get ready for Market Restocks once a week as well. This will reflect shortage from over-buying, as well as factor in NPC-to-NPC piracy as well as Thargoid interference with megaship freighters to ensure more market shortages.

Elite: Austerity begins!

Lol, You had me there, right up until the words "1 Year".

Cause everyone loves austerity! Especially if you're a kid from a low income household who's just had your free school meals taken away.

Suggest you re-read what was posted. It was pretty clear: it's written in the future context and not past. It's about the upcoming 3.0.3 not the current build.

Actual text for clarity:

"As you might have guessed, update 3.0.3 will occur sometime next week and we’ll confirm with you the date and time in the near future.

Aside from the list we mentioned here, we have information about some of the issues reported in this thread:

Material package for the affected players of the Guardian Power Plant issue.

Material packages have been sent out to affected players. If you haven’t received yours, please contact our Customer Support team here.

Material drops at settlements provide only one item instead of three.

This is intended.

Could it be a mistake, sure, anything is possible. But likely in this case? No. Get ready: nerf inbound LOL!

Nothing new, they again start adding more gameplay hours with grind.

Maybe the plan is to make anything meaningful or possibly fun in the game to take as long as possible to extend gametime and the possibility that frontierstore purchases will be made.
I bought a few paintjobs with the latest engineers change, the materials traders especially seemed like a break, but with the upcoming nerf to material drops i think i will just go back to boycotting the store.
I wouldnt be surprised if FD has statistics on storepurchases/hoursspentplaying and are just trying to maximize the money they make in the store by mazimizing the grind for players.

Some materials are so rare in my experience i have only seen them at Dav's Hope, specifically improvised components.

Once you need G5 there is no reason to stay there.

Right, because G5 mod's only use G5 mat's and hardly ever stuff like HD Composites, Configurable Components, Compound Shielding, Chemical Manipulators, Conductive Ceramics or Conductive Polymers.

Okay, so there's over a hundred G5 mod's that those mat's are used for but who's counting, eh?

Besides, the mat' traders mean that instead of farming Dav's Hope we'll be able to spend even longer looking for HGEs so we can collect the stuff and take it to the traders and swap it for the things we used to be able to get for ourselves.

Perfect.

Kind of makes you wonder if they didn't hire a new programmer - the fellow Microsoft fired after developing the update that removed the Control Panel from the Start Menu. "Who needs a control panel? Just search for what you want to do."

Yes i understand that it's written in future context but what he's doing is listing bugs that people have reported in the thread and confirming whether or not they are getting a fix in 3.0.3. The 1 drop issue was reported and he's confirming its not a bug and is intended gameplay so will not be fixed in the coming patch. I could be wrong but this is my understanding even after a second read.

l You serious FDev? Some of the data stuff was already most time consuming to get, and now you just without reason nerfed the drops by 66%? are you just trying to people off or what?

I suggest this gets changed back asap, it's nothing short of plainly stupid.
