MattG's Observatory plugins

Well it happened, and it's huge.

I'm all for a buff, but to not change the rank requirements too is... disappointing. Zero to Elite V easily doable in a day.

But anyway - real life got in the way and BioInsights update still needs some work. Hoping to have something in next few days, but I'm also half wondering if they might re-nerf some of these payouts so makes sense to hold off for a couple of days anyway.

Yeah these bio-insights profits are a real boon to my exploration income;

Mind you I thought we were getting a 2.5 multiplier at the most so if anyone is carrying bio data it may be best to cash in now before a correction, I haven't heard it's a mistake but it seems to be a....huge buff. I am getting like 16m+ for some tectonicas whereas previously it would have been 1.6m total for collect and first report

They said they were buffing the base values too, but they've gone crazy with them. Most base values are about x30.768 their originals but they cap at 16,777,215. Tectonicas base is 16,777,215, but you still get 5x that for first reported. Almost 84 million for 1 sample of Tectonicas.

Sally mentioned in another thread she was going to check on it. But maybe this is correct and exobiology just became free money 🤷‍♂️

Something's not quite right because the credits you get are less than the amount quoted when you submit the data to Vista. So I clicked on sell page for 326M and i actually received 117M. A bit was taken by my NPC crewmember, but it seems you generally get 40% of what is offered.
It makes the job of updating BioInsights awkward!

I think this is what Evoflash also reported - despite UI and journal reporting improved figure, you actually receive only 2x base instead of 5x - as it was before U14. I think this is just a bug and will be fixed though.

But yeh I'm in no rush to get BioInsights sorted, a delay to let the dust settle is probably a good thing :)

Just FYI, and you probably already know this, but BioInsights isn't working completely. The window stays blank (although the popups for distance and etc work normally).

Edit: Never mind, it started working again today. I don't know why it didn't the past few days.

Hi Matt, just a quick heads up, got a report in bio insights for Fonticula Campestris Ocher, as you can see here;

But the actual type was emerald as below, in the Codex and analysed, which isn't shown at all in the list of possibles, so a missing or wrong bio there?

At Wregoe GX-L c23-1, Wregoe GX-L c23-1 4 d, ID36, in Inner Orion Spur, Fonticulua Campestris - Emerald, Biological and Geological, Organic structures, -23.5638° 138.9549°

OK, so as far as I can tell it's because it's unaware of the main star. The fact it saw the Y means you can't have honked the system since FSS so my guess is you either visited this system pre-FSS and scanned the main star manually or you visited after FSS, proximity scanned the main star but didn't honk. It's a well-travelled system so would likely have already had system map. I suppose there could also be some journal glitch that stopped that specific scan getting to Obeervatory but the other options look more likely.

I do have plans to help mitigate some of these edge cases, but it's a way off yet.

Just checked my journals, yep you're right, my first visit to that system was over 5 years ago lol, surprising how one gets around aye? No wonder I didn't remember it!

Just a heads-up Matt... Observatory core just updated and now uses .net 6 it says. I'm not sure BioInsights works with this update. It might be me that's done something wrong of course!

I am aware, but BioInsights requires some work to get it working again.
I will rebuild all plugins for .Net 6 when I get the chance, but cursory testing suggests it's only BioInsights that doesn't work.

Hey all, is there anyway to turn off the white backround in the text pop-ups?
The popups in Observatory Core? They shouldn't be white, it's supposed to be transparent. Double check you're running Elite in Borderless mode, not full screen. Otherwise it might be best to ask in the Observatory thread

Thaks, sorry I confused the plugins with Core. Insert Homer Into The Hedge GIF ;)

Alright.

Updates are available here for most things. You will need the latest version of Observatory Core for these updates.

Codex Companion
I've not had time to update Codex Companion for the new version of BioInsights. It is still useful for telling you expected conditions of a biological, but it will no longer correctly reflect what you've seen and where, and any marks you've set up are not processed by the new version of BioInsights - but check the BioInsights notes. Codex Companion will get an update - I just don't have time at the moment.

BioInsights
BioInsights has undergone a significant rewrite of the internals (again!). IMPORTANT: You will need to do a Read All to reseed the database it uses. Changes include:
  • Much better at knowing which star is colouring a variant, even when it's not the orbited star
  • Supresses most unlikely variants because they won't be present
  • You no longer need to mark unseen variants to get notificaitons for them - in BioInsights settings there are now checkboxes for "Mark entries I've not seen in any region" and "Mark entries I've not seen in current region" replacing functionality previously provided by Codex Companion
  • Contains updated prices for biologicals (thanks to @LCU No Fool Like One )
  • The "notify on Stratum Tectonicas" option is gone but you can instead notify when any individual biological has a base value over a certain amount (default 15 million). Note that this option only triggers when the biological is highly likely, not when it is only a possibility.
  • Predicts biologicals for autoscanned planets (they do not generate the necessary FSSBodySignals event to know what a body may contain)
  • Further enhancements to biological criteria
  • Added a notification for when a possible biological may be a new galactic codex entry. Emphasis on may - data is up to a week old at any given moment, I make no promises. Be sure to thank @Marxanthius for maintaining the data necessary for this.

The recent changes have now made it easier to add support for Horizons biologicals, and eventually support for predicting biologicals from spansh data where a system has already been visited by someone.
I still have a few bits I need to finish up, as well as addressing a few small things caught by @varonica and IGAU squadron members during beta testing, so expect an update fairly soon - but for now it's good enough to work in latest Core release.

Everything Else
These have been built against .NET6 but only had minimal testing. I don't anticipate any problems, but they're not been tested as much as usual. Let me know if there's any issues.

I updated to the new version of Bioinsites and it no longer even detects when a planet has biological life./ for example a planet has 3 bilogical signasl yet bioinsites shows nothng If i got down to the Planet and Manual scan a biological the windows shows nothing for that planet, read all shows all My previous Finds as not predicted but will not display any new bilogoicals. the correct count does show up in Botenist though
