MattG's Observatory plugins

Hello Matt,

Trying to install Codex Companion. In your first post you state:

"If you used the ObsCore installer, you can just double click the eop file and it'll install itself before launching ObsCore. Or, you can just copy the eop to the plugin folder and re-run ObsCore, and it'll also install it (you'll need to do this if you don't use the installer version)."

Downloaded and installed Elite Observatory.

Downloading the Codex Companion from here:

Gives you an exe file and not a eop files as stated above.

How do I install Codex Companion and get the below information as shown in Post #5 in this tread https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/how-rare-is-electricae.617311/

I can answer that. The Codex Companion is a stand alone app, not a plug in. It's an extra thing MattG made. Just run it. :)

Been having problems with the exobio stuff today. I get the popup notification for the first scan but not the second and not getting the confirmations about having travelled far enough from the 1st scan either. Is this a known fault? (has something changed with ED update 15.02 perhaps?).

This Odyssey or Horizons bio? It sometimes behaves strange with stuff like brain trees etc.

I have occasionally had this happen, since forever.

It's Odyssey bio.

Ok, I haven't done any bio since the latest patch but I doubt it's that anyway, it shouldn't affect the journal reporting, but were you jumping between modes doing it, that is doing some on foot from the ship and some on foot from the SRV, because that's the only time in the past I have seen this. Scan one bio on foot by exiting the SRV, then docking the SRV in the ship to fly to the next patch.....and the distance message doesn't show while in the ship.

I will retest this when I get a chance, but I've not been able to reproduce this previously with any combination of foot, SRV and ship.

As I said I have noticed it more with non-odyssey specific bio, don't know whether it happens with Odyssey specific stuff, I do tend to fly for everything these days so don't encounter it much, it's so much faster with the right ship!

One thing that may have triggered it I suppose is that I didn't complete all the exobio in one session. So try leaving yourself landed on a planet (in the ship), relog, and then deploy the SRV and start scanning another nearby plant species.

I do that a lot, which may be why I’ve seen the bug occasionally.

Right, that'd do it - it might be clever enough to continue if you leave ObsCore open (I don't guarantee that though), but it definitely won't recall state if you close Core. This was crucial information to reproducing issue :). Part of the reason for this is ScanOrganic doesn't record your location at the time so it has to be remembered in realtime. It's on my todo list to improve, but won't be until after Core UI rewrite.

Just to be clear - I don't mean I've already scanned 1/3 when I log off. I mean I park near the next bio I'm going to start scanning, then log off (and switch off). The next day I log in, deploy SRV, drive to bio, get out, scan 1/3 (and get the 1st prompt from plugin), get back in SRV, start driving to next sample (never getting an indication I've driven far enough), find a sample, get out, scan 2/3 (still no notification from plugin).
