o7 CMDRs,
I was fighting the Thargoids around Alvarado Beacon in Obamumbo, when an interceptor variant appeared and disappeared fairly quickly.
It was NOT formed like the other ones, being much more pointy towards its supposed cockpit, like it had the petals leaned back -way back-.
Much like a dog would lean back its ears when its angry or when its running really fast. It didn't have the characteristic looks of the other interceptor types.
It was moving in a weird way too. It was rolling all the time, I mean like we would roll with our ships, when trying to avoid dumbfire-missiles from behind, but keeping its trajectory.
Its "exhausts" were creating a vortex-like pattern and they were not caustic like the Orthrus ones. It also had a light shield from the start.
I was in my fully engineered Krait Mk2, running 5 Guardian Shard Cannons size 2A. The new, pre-engineered ones with higher range, penetration, shot speed etc.
It took me 5 rounds out of all my Shard Cannons to dissolve its shield and I really had a hard time keeping up with its pace. My Krait runs 532 m/s.
It's not the fastest, but not slow either. I had to boost all the time to keep up. After 5 more shots and full hits from behind, the heart was exerted.
I didn't have a scanner on my ship to know how many hearts it had in total, which the basic scan would have provided. And I wasn't clever enough to
think of a screenshot first, before shooting, and not fast enough to get a screenshot of it later. It came through one of those frame-shift-anomaly-portals where I was waiting for it,
paced -immediately with top speed- over the Alvarado Beacon surface station in a low arc, and disappeared into another one of those portals.
Just before entering the second portal it turned mid-flight -keeping its trajectory, like it had fa-off- and returned fire. Just one salvo hit me and took away 9% hp.
I am relatively new to the thargoid hunting, but have been doing it for one and a half months now. I have fought every known variant dozens and cyclopses hundreds of times now.
Never seen one like that before, and never after. Been looking for it since the first contact last week to get footage or at least a screenshot, but to no avail.
The whole encounter lasted 20-30 seconds. Has anyone smarter and/or quicker than me encountered such an interceptor and could provide info on it?
Couldn't find any infos on it yet, so it would be highly appreciated. Just to make sure I wasn't imagining things after 4 hours of non-stop-thargoid-hunting. Thanks a lot in advance.
Cheers and fly safe,
CMDR Sufi Andal
P.S.: I will start this same thread on the AXI-Site, if possible. Maybe there's a new player (interceptor) in the game.
