Memorial for my little commander

A few days ago my daughter's 11 year old body succumbed under the strain of the fight against cancer. She was brave and wonderful and could have fought forever if it was up to her spirit.

I wanted to post this to help myself heal, to thank fdev for the game that has granted me so much relief from the stress of everything, and to thank bosslady and loose screws discord and squadron for being my online brothers and sisters.

To the devs: your work matters. It is just a game, but your amazing game has provided comfort and entertainment to people struggling with countless issues. I thank you so much for your efforts.

To the awesome community, particularly Qai zen and bosslady. Thank you such much for the play time and streams and late night talks. Community is what drives this game and it is encouraging to see so many players who deeply care about the universe they are involved in.
I believe that the expectations of core players will drive the push to a better and better game.

It is also amazing how this communtiy has banded together to donate to so amazing causes. cmdr platter and fdev's charity efforts come to mind. So much money raised to fight terrible diseases that effect commanders around the world!

Lastly I have a request from a grieving father. My Evelyn was a thinker and a reader. She loved the fact that you could fly through our on galaxy and see the stars that we see from our backyard.

I would love to get a named object in the game that i could go visit as a memorial. Preferably it would be something really bright, just like her. Unstoppable and bright in the darkness. It would so special for me.

Thanks for listening, mike.

My deepest condolensces, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I hope we can get an object named after her in game, if its any help, please count this post as a vote for making that happen.

I think there are two ways we can play this, one would be ask FDev to name something after her in game, quietly done on a server tick without much fanfare. The other would be make it into a community goal which would enable the community to participate in the CG, showing their support for you, and the successful completion of the CG results in an object getting named after your daughter. There was a CG a few years back along these lines, where a player had lost their father, who was a real fan of fishing and loved their coffee, so a community goal was set in game to bring coffee and fish to an orbital station, and the completion of the CG renamed that asset to "walter dock".

This is the station that we got renamed for walters family:

This is the CG that made it happen:

If you and FDev decide to make it a community goal sort of thing, I'll be all over that CG in support of you.

PS: I've probably been ninja'd a hundred times over with this suggestion, because since startying typing this it has taken me a while to find those links.

@jellowiggler You could rename your CMDR (is that possible?), or start a new account, with a name in her memory and head out exploring. You can have her name on thousands of bodies all across the Galaxy! Would even give you something to do with your time while you heal. I hope to run into an ELW discovered by In_Memory_Of_Evelyn, or whatever name you choose.

That is an ingenius idea.

That would be so cool to share that memorial with the rest of the community. I will be sure to let you all know if there is any reply that i can share.

My deepest condolences.
Me and my wife, we know the feeling of losing a child, the light of one's life, the pain is unbearable and it is one of the most harsh things a human being can experience.
Although i find it really difficult to see your wish come to fruition, I really hope you succeed some way.
Be strong and may God confort you in His Love.

Although they may not name something after your daughter, you can rename a ship in her memory. Might I suggest something like "Evelyn 's Endeavor" or the like. You will probably be able to come up with something better, but I make the suggestion as a starter seed for you to work from.

Blessings and Peace. May your journey continue and may her new journey be something you can ponder without tears one day...

;'{P~~~

Regarding memorials, I remembered that Frontier made a statement about this some time ago, so I've searched and found this:

Over the last few years, we’ve been honoured to help Commanders memorialise their loved and lost ones across the Elite Dangerous galaxy.

However, as we continue work on Elite Dangerous our team structure has changed and we can no longer dedicate the desired amount of resources to support these monuments in a way that does them justice, and we wouldn't want to let you down. This means that, regretfully, we will not be able to implement player memorials for the foreseeable future.

We understand that this may come as a disappointment, however if the situation is to change in the future, we will absolutely be sure to let the community know.

It's strange that they said that about a month before "Michaels journey through the stars"? Maybe something to do with the fact Zero was a cat not a human?
