Game Discussions Microsoft Flight Simulator

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Quite old, orbital flight simulator. Complex as hell.

I remember Orbiter! Man that was a lot of fun! Complex as hell is the truth, though. I remember how thrilled I was the first time I was able to actually pilot the Delta Glider space plane from earth, land on the moon, and return. In Orbiter that was a real accomplishment! ;)

That's the fun of simulators, really - learning the systems. Climbing that steep learning curve and accomplishing something you didn't know how to do when you started.

Is it only available on Game Pass? Or can you buy it as a standalone copy?
The way I understand Game Pass is that it's a subscription with freebies. Like Origin Access is now. That means you can either buy the game, or you can pay the subscription and play this game (and any other included games) "for free", with the caveat that when you stop your subscription, you'll lose access to those games.

Right, that's my understanding, as well. I was curious of you could get the game outside of Game Pass.

This, to my knowledge, is the only proper "flight sim" available for XBox, no?

Well, we don't know yet whether it will be a proper flight sim like the predecessors (I sure hope so) but yes, I don't think anybody is making flight sims on XBox, right now.

After looking it up, it is stated for Windows 10. I wont be switching to that OS at the close of the year so unless it can run on an older Windows OS or via Linux, looks like I will be giving it a miss. Still enjoy FS 2004 and FSX tho.

The fact that they chose to include "Simulator" in the name once again after the under-performing sales of "Microsoft Flight" suggests that this one will be more of a hardcore sim than that one was.

Time to join us in the 21st century. ;)
Seriously, though, from the looks of this game it's going to require a decent rig to run. Windows 7 is a fine OS, but if you've got a computer still running that I assume it's also got some dated hardware. Might wanna consider upgrading. If you're running Win7 on a modern rig I have to wonder why. Win10 is a fine OS as well.

Plus I think that it being Microsoft it's going to promote (and in this case it seems that doenright require) a lot of DX12 features.

I got W7 and W10 on the same PC, i74960X CPU and GTX1080OC so yes a bit dated hardware, but still rockin pretty good.
Wanted to update my PC but I still holding back because all the new stuff just around the corner, so maybe in 2020 it's finally time to build a new PC 😁

I've kinda gone off these pure simulators now. Got given X-Plane 11 as a gift and it's still in it's wrapper untouched.
While I've got previous versions of Flight Sim and X-Plane (started with version 5), I only looned about in them for short stints. The only sims I put a significant amount of proper flying time on were the Flight Unlimited series.

I'm watching Deadstick: Bush Flying Simulator with interest though. Looks like it'll have a progressive gameplay element behind it as well as the danger of completely screwing yourself over by wrapping the aircraft round a tree with no hitting 'End Flight' and going back to the main menu.

It looks very impressive but I'm sure the trailer has hundreds of dollars in DLC loaded up. Still though.....very nice.
