Ships Mini Fleet Carrier

I am CMDR BeaconHill. I've been playing ED since Nov 2023. I hope I’m not too wordy in requesting this suggestion.

I like to see a mini or mid-level fleet carrier (Created for Deep Space Savage Operations) with no spin-up time, that can jump at least 250-400 ly, and can carry 1 large and 1 medium ship, plus storage for parts and swapping components, extra fuel, etc. If possible, I’d like it designed off my childhood favorite toy, Milton Bradley Starbird, or a ship that looks similar. It would be one of the hottest ships to have. Python mini carrier. See pics

I'd be willing to pay 50k-100k in ARKs to unlock the ship and its engineers, then pay 2 to 3 billion in in-game credits just to have such a ship. A bit pricey but what the heck..It's time to expand out from the bubble. Colonia is very far and takes too long with regular fleet carriers that are limited to 500 ly jumps, spin-up times, and unpredictable server waiting. It takes the fun out of the game at times. I understand the 1:1 design of the game showing real space travel, but it’s a game, and we should have options. Create wormholes for ARK credits. Or create warp drives for ARK credits.

Warp drive range: Can only be used for 1000 to 3000 light years jumps
Worm holes and or portals range: can be 10,000 light years and above

We like hoping in our ships and go. But if it takes too long to travel the stars, you get bored jumping and mining for fuel, and can lose player interest, especially new players who discover how massive space is. I stay within the bubble because of that. Thanks for your time.

I know what you mean. There have already been many similar suggestions, the simplest being essentially 2.

1. Allow FCs to plan a route with auto-jumps afterwards, at least for the entire fuel reserve in the tank.

2. Increase the range of one jump with an increase in fuel for it and time spent.

The main purpose of these proposals is to increase the covered distance offline instead of sitting on the bridge of the FC.

Deep Space Savage Operations sound like a lot of fun!
But personally I don't think we need a mid-level FC.
Or rather personally I'd prefer the dev time to be spent on something else.
#opinion, of course :)
On the other hand if a small and mid level FC showed up as part of an expansion or refinement of the current FC modifications system that would be a very good use of time and resources.

Though they could likely produce a smaller carrier without doing significantly more work than adding a new SCO capable ship if they reused assets heavily for things that haven't really changed. Landing pads, hangers, concourse, menu can stay. New model new costs but not really that far from what carriers currently are should be attainable.

It's not like we needed the Python2 or Corsair but it's nice to have options if they don't need to rebuild the entire engine to provide them.

I used to have that ship/toy as well as a kid!!

Thanks for posting! Brought back memories lol...

I do think they can explore more of the ship-weight class space between the Cutter/Corvette and FC.

I would not call it a "mid range" FC though. That immediately brings in FC related angst.

I do think they could allow players to fully customize the specialization of smaller-than ("mini") megaships in this range, and based on the mass, would determine the mega ship class and stuff like jump range, cargo, scanner range etc... would be much easier to just spend the time on megaship customization and method/metrics of design, and let the players have at it, instead of only giving us certain predesigned ships.

(Like if I could design and order a 1/4 size FC but with no cargo or extra mass so the jump range would max out, plus add some sort of new advanced sensor that would automatically scan/explore new systems so we didn't have to waste time doing the little frequency finder game to spot bodies... then that's a good deep space exploration platform. Pick the body style for the ship, order it and go pick it up from the FC Vendor shipyard after so many hours.... players would be content designing their own mini-megaships instead of complaining about what the game doesn't have)

Great feedback..I hear ya CMDR

That ship the starbird avenger.. where exactly would the landing pads be for large & medium/small etc ships? It would need a platform welded onto its back hehe. Savage !

One Large pad on the neck. It's not a "mini carrier"... it's better thought of as a "mini" megaship... something mass-wise greater than a cutter/corvette but less than a FC.... maybe 1/4 size.
