General / Off-Topic Miniature models (Revell, Pocher, etc.)

Hello everybody interested to read this.

Besides gaming, one of my biggest hobby's is making miniature models.
And I thought, how about sharing it here, and see if other people do this as well.

I've made many projects, from cars, to ships, to planes.

I wanted to show my collection here, and see what you guys think. I'm not a real expert, and I don't really have a steady hand, so some of the models might look a bit sloppy.

Below some pics, enjoy!

Thanks for reading, and please let me know when you have a similar interest. (y)

Quite a variety of models there Luuknoord, making models I find is very calming and have made many over the years myself. From model aeroplanes (wood and plastic) radio controlled cars (plastic and metal) battleships, Spaceships, all sorts of things. Even my own spaceship console desk for playing elite. In recent years I have moved onto Lego, primarily because it’s less messy 😂.

Anyway. Well done !

Can you clarify what this means?
You have scrap plastic bits laying around, and make your own model from a picture?
As a kid, I remember saving up for a kit, paint, glue, and putting models together, I enjoyed it.
They were always cars from the 40's & 50's.

Thanks for the compliments.

I did not dare go there yet (Lego). I am 36 years old, but I have had Lego in my younger years, I still had that all, all Lego blocks in one big box.
My older brother thought it would be nice to sort that all out, so he did.

And I have to say I made some of those projects again, which was great fun.

It's amazing to see the great stuff you once build. I also discovered I had a Lego train as well, which still runs after being in a box for nearly 30 years.

Oh, no, it's a kit indeed. From Revell. Mark Webber version. I'm most definitely not capable of making it myself with random scrap.

The newer RB, is not something I build, but I saved points (just like Airmiles) at Jumbo (one of Max Verstappen's sponsors) where you could save for a free model car.(y)

Some nice ship models there!
I like WWI aircraft, but I'm tempted by the 1/72 Flower class corvette.

Thanks!
I have some battleships as well, the Bizmark for instance.

The Flower Class Corvette looks fantastic.

I still have the RMS Titanic, and the Porsche Boxter to build.

But I already ordered my next project, so with Planet Zoo coming along, I need to hurry up:

I did a lot of 1/72 airplane model kits when I was younger and a fair few model car kits as well.
Haven't built any for many years, but recently bought this kit and a bit of equipment build it properly...

That looks like a very nice model. Interested in the end result. Good luck! 👍

Where are the ships and the space stations models kits of Elite Dangerous ?

I want to buy and assemble them all.

If they where available i would definitely buy one. Those will look great.

I have played Elite a few times. But i like the models in the game very much.

For other games. How about a miniature Screaminator (Planco) in the centre of my room. 😎

I used to be hugely inspired by Francois Verlinden as a kid. He built those amazing dioramas you could see in the Tamiya catalogs, and "he taught" me to modify the kits in all sorts of ways. I also "stole" his technique where he painted the models in a slightly darker nuance and then brushed the top with a dry brush using a lighter nuance, thereby creating dirt and shadows:

I recently found out that Tamiya is still printing the catalogs, and considered if it would be fun building a model again. Then I remembered those large metal kits I saw as a kid. The ones my parents said were way too expensive. After googling a little I found them: Pocher. They are still expensive, but i've got my own money now :)

Pocher model kits were known to often have missing parts, and they have become even more rare nowadays, so instead I might give one of these a go some day:

That one looks great! Great detail work! (y)

Yes, Pocher is indeed the ones that are large. The company does not exist anymore unfortunately, because of that the models are getting rarer and rarer. I've got a "RR Phantom II" I'm working on, but if I wanted, I could have sold it for nearly € 1.000, but I got it as a gift from a colleague that could not find the time to build it, so no way I'm departing from that.

Thanks for the share, Luuknoord. They're all quite lovely.

That looks fantastic.

My parents have a big doll house as well, one that was build by my grandfather. After he died, my parents took over and restorated it.

Thanks for sharing!
