A) that the hotspots seem broken.
Nope, not really. Only the ICE rings might be miffy and only for LTD hotspots.
B) that there appears to be more cores lately in non pristine ones than pristine ones.
The pristine / non-pristine does not apply to cores, only to the number of fragments released when laser mined
C) I know hotspots do not increase the number of cores, but they used to increase the likelyhood those cores would be that type. This no longer seems to be the case
It is still valid. But the hotspot is only increasing the chance to find cores with the hotspot material, not removing the chance to find cores with secondary materials.
For example:
- back in the days when VO core mining was highly profitable, i encountered 5 Grandidierite and 1 Alexandrite cores in a row in VO hotspot during the same mining session. Talk about bad RNG
That was the moment when i decided to crack every single core i encounter - even if i dont pick a single fragment afterwards - only to make sure i dont encounter it again if i pop in the same ring the next day
- In the Bromellite CG that happened recently i did my share of mining in a triple bromelite hot spot - fhe few cores i encountered were bromellite only, but i agree the sample is quite small to beat what the RNG is capable of.
and would like to build a good stock of various stuff onboard for that reason.
For that to happen, avoid hotspots.
For example, if you pop in a nice pristine metallic ring with a haz rez- you will get quite fast a nice assortment of platinum, palladium, osmium, gold, silver and a few others that can be either sold for decent profit or saved for supply/mine missions (but selling them at the right stations will still offer the best profit)
If you drop in a hotspot, you'll get mainly the hotspot material.
