Looks like Ngalinn is to target Mainani. Good to take up Empire, it seems?Ngalinn is where you go for them. There's only an outpost there (Hickham Survey?), so you need a medium ship for them . A Chieftain with lasers is the best ship for fastest money.
Is there the necessary low RES in the target system where you kill the pirates? If there is, you don't need large pads because you can't complete the missions as fast with a big ship. Likewise, an SLF will only slow you down and get you into trouble. If you want to rank up Fed, there is also
Misir, for which you take missions at LTT 2974 (4 Fed factions + 2 independent), and LTT 12058 (2 Fed + 4 ind).
Large pads in both.
I was there a week ago. Will go back today to test my new PvE SLFs Krait II.

Yes: find a time machine, go 8-10 years back when the grind was real (flying a Conda at that time was a dream, and the rebut costs were terrifying!), then go back to present and enjoy how getting rich and collecting mats is now such a bliss in comparisonStill grinding
Made a billion over the last ten days, stacking missions works, but it's dull doing the same thing over and over. Anyone know any exploits or anything?
A high RES is not the best place for doing pirate massacres, especially with an SLF because the SLF will get bounties on you, then the police will turn on you and make it difficult to carry on. The reason I recommend Ngalinn is because there's a low RES in the target system, where you can kill the pirates at an average rate of 120 per hr if you do it right. You don't even need any engineering to do it there, so any beginner can do it too, though an engineered Vulture, Chieftain or FAS, is the ideal tool for the job, with the Chieftain just winning. I'm not sure how a Python mk2 would do because I haven't tried it yet, but I've a feeling that it wouldn't beat a Chieftain. Whatever ship you use there, it should have all laser weapons if you want the fastest kill rate - a mixture of long range and efficient to match your PD power supply rate. Typically, without PP, you get around 600 million per trip that takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours.Misir has a high RES.
But fastest is to go to threat 3 SS, which are bugged "by design": they contain a formation of 8 ships (generally novice-expert) that act as individual (not wing, so all do not get aggro if you attack one).
I do not seek to maximize profit per hour, but have fun and try new things. I did already get 2 billions flying a shieldless triple frags (limited ammo) FAS* there already
It's about time I try out SLF's and train a rookie crew to Elite.
*: with single C3 short range TV beam, and a few synthesis in the double shots incendiary frags, BTW
A billion per night is achievable in Ngalinn on your own, and around 1.5 billion if you cooperate with a couple of other players to share the missions when you cash in. In fact, you can make a billion a night by just hanging around in the outpost and getting other players to share their missions with you. As I said above, I used to share approx 250 million with random players every night. If three other players did that, there's your billion credits for nothing.Still grinding

Why would it happen if you keep your SLF to defend (i.e.: open fire only on hostiles) and never use the "attack my target" command unless you have completed a scan on a wanted ship.A high RES is not the best place for doing pirate massacres, especially with an SLF because the SLF will get bounties on you, [...]
They can't shoot straight and they get a bit mixed up who the enemies are. There are a load of wing pirate massacre missions in Ngalinn. You kill the pirates very quickly in the low resource extraction site in Mainani, not where they tell you go. It's quicker to kill them on your own, so if you're in a team, you should not team up to kill them, though the spawn does increase if there are more than one of you, so see what works for you best. Anyway, you don't need to be in a team when you do this.I've been away from this game for a long time what does this mean? I only play in open, but I've never done missions with other players
If you do not plan to join wings / if there are no other commanders in the "Pirate Massacre" target system, you should actually avoid taking wing missions. The payout per kill of wing mission is low. There are a load of wing pirate massacre missions in Ngalinn. [...]
What kind of build would you recommend for this? (Apologies if you recently posted one.)Use only lasers to save wasted time.

This is the only game I've ever played where the general advice is to 'do something else while you're playing'Not included is the time to stack the missions, which I do while I'm eating, doing social media and stuff like that
I gave a detailed instruction that covers everything in this video. The build isn't really important. You can do very well with an unengineered Vulture with two burst lasers. as you can see in the beginners video before this one, but if you want the best, the Chieftain wins. The important characteristics are speed and agility, since you don't need much fire-power, but whatever you use, make sure it only has lasers for weapons:What kind of build would you recommend for this? Different people have different objectives. Some people always strive for optimum efficiency in everything they do. To optimise a task, it takes experience, testing, analysis, lateral thinking and downright cunning. Those things have to be then repeated. After 10 years and around 300,000 dead pirates, I'm still getting ideas about how to do it better that I can never wait to test. The kill rate or the credits per hr is how you measure the success, not the goal. Everything is boring if you make it boring, and everything is interesting if you make it interesting. The only boring things are people.Don't just do A-B-A, go to where stuff looks interesting, allow yourself to be distracted. Credits per hour is a miserable way to play.
That's good general advice, but only the bit about the mission types at the beginning applies to Ngalinn. You won't get anywhere near the earnings rate for Ngalinn doing what you said. The Ngalinn techniques can be used in other locations where there's a low RES in the target system. For any player just wanting fast credits, it would make a lot of sense just to go to Ngalinn and have done with it unless you're trying to rank up for a Corvette at the same time. Ngalinn gives you the Cutter. If you do not plan to join wings / if there are no other commanders in the "Pirate Massacre" target system, you should actually avoid taking wing missions. The payout per kill of wing mission is low.
The principle is as follow:
- Use this tool to identify a target system. Ideally, a system targeted by 10+ different factions in no more than 1-2 adjacent systems, and with multiple stations per system (that way, if you do not find "Kill Pirates" missions (do not take the "Kill deserters" or others) from all factions, check the next station.
Take also consideration the type of landing pads if you plan to bring a big ship, and if so, bring also a small ship to dock at the M size pads to take missions there.
Also, you may want to take the opportunity to select systems with multiple Federal or imperial factions if you wish to rank up.
https://edtools.cc/pve
- Go to these adjacent systems, and take non-wing KP missions, ideally for all factions. At first, there will not be many missions / good payout available due to your low reputation. Keep in mind that the limit is 20 missions.
Try to get the same number of kills per faction. This awesome tool comes in VERY handy:

Massacre Mission Stack Manager for Elite Dangerous - WarmedxMints/ODMissionStackergithub.com
- If you have visited the last station and still have not found missions for some factions, that is the moment to take some wing missions that do not exceed the number of kills of the other factions on your list.
- Go kill pirates in the threat Level 3/4 Singla Sources (you may scan the nav beacon to conveniently reveal them without the need to scan them), RES, at the nav beacon, or even in supercruise.
- Once you have progressed sufficiently, go claim some of the completed missions, and take new missions accordingly.
Whenever you can get the option of a lower payout with greater reputation gain, take it. You can also get some grade 4/5 materials sometimes...
Each time you dock, take the opportunity to use the money you earned to take some donation missions (for the reputation or/and the Federal/Imperial rank)
- After some time, you will get access to the best missions, such as kill 15/30 pirates for 20/40 millions, which reward 1.33 million per kill.
One example of where I used to hang out was the system Misir, surrounded by two adjacent systems LTT 2974 (5 Federal + 2 Independant factions) and LTT 12058 (2 Fed + 5 Inde) for a total of 12 factions.
If you managed there to get only the best missions for each faction, you basically get 1.33 x 12 = ~16 millions per kill (+bounty). Although, realistically, you should get between 8-12 millions generally.
I used to make about a billion a night, and recently got enough Fed ranking to access the Corvette.
Note: ED is dynamic. The Misir spot is now running dry with some factions starting to target other systems than Misir, and therefore it is less efficient to stack missions.
When this happens, it's time to move to another spot...doing the same things over and over again is boring anyway, eh?
I hope that helps.
