multi-crew, avatar creation and ship-launched fighters.

I'm very looking forward to multicrew and customizable pilots, bet they'll add lots of mechanics that will boost the mmo aspect of the game.

Ship launched fighters? Nah.

Ok - your going to take up space now with an AI Fighter - programed by Dev. Team (Save me from more STUPID)...

Well for a start if you have friends it's a great addition, next to planetary landing, multi crew has been the one thing I've been waiting for. Building a second VR rig so my mates can fly with me, heck even my girlfriend has been going on for a year about being able to cruise around with me inside the ship in Virtual reality. It's going to be frikin epic having my friends on board these ships with me & flying fighters. AI controlled fighters are just a bonus.

He Driver aren't you afraid your girlfriend will tell you 'look what a mess this spaceship is! Clean it up or I won't fly with you!' :p
 
I'm looking forward to customizing my Commander. Nothing makes me feel more connected to a character than customization.
I am hoping that with the addition of custom commanders we will actually have some opportunity to see our commanders other than stuck in the seat of our ships or SRV's.
Being a solo player who has yet to meet another player or find a group with anyone online, multicrew will only really be useful if crew NPCs exist.
Dockable fighters might be interesting, especially if our main ships support "auto-pilot" or we can have "drone fighters", for the same reason above.

I like the idea of ship-launched fighters but willl it work ?
Multi-crew and especially avatar creation to me are just a waist of time.

Having a fighter to hand will be nice to change the gameplay a bit... But what is a shame is if we compare what we can do with a fighter on board, or what a group of CMDRs can do togethor in a ship, it's basically (at the moment at least) the same as what we were doing a year+ ago. How much nicer would it have been if gameplay had moved forwards over that past year such that we had convoy escort/attack missions in place to have these use in. Or blockades to enforce, break or run, again with these to play a part in. Or indeed any significantly more involved/deeper gameplay...

And another side worry, is FD's comment that a ship of CMDRs will be as competitive as them in individual ships :( Do I detect another balancing nightmare approaching? :(

Don't count on any of it adding anything special to the game for the majority. Looks to be like they can't and will not be adding any persistence to their so called seamless bubble space. Only thing epic will be something other than what FD has done since launch. Thought the planetary landings in Horizons would spark a huge interest and even professed on many Steam posts about how it will open up a huge amount of gameplay, even though it was only for non-atmospheric planets, but FD did such a horrible job at implementing any gameplay and the gameplay there is more of the same arcade gimmickry. The immersion is at such a minimal state with the hokey bubble galaxy that has no persistence compared to the previous iterations of Elite that ED is still just another Elite clone.
 
I'm excited for ship launched fighters and multi-crew. Very unsure how successful the multi-crew gameplay design will be but I have hope. Having a friend or two deploy fighters from your ship while you fly it is very practical.

How can you say that if you don't know what the game play entails? eg: Would you prefer to be controlling pips to ENG/SYS/WEP or flying your own ship? You won't know until FD deliver multi-crew and we can see what gameplay there is to utilise? They might be offering insanely new fun mechanics... or not...
 
Still can't fathom out how it will be made interesting for the additional CMDRs...
I'm trying to keep a positive attitude towards the rest of this season's additions. I'm most interested in the multicrew addition but without true co-op missions, I too am having a hard time envisioning how this will be much more than a novelty. I'm hoping to be positively surprised. [woah]

I can say that because it's a personality type. Some people just tend to enjoy a support role more in multiplayer.

I am one of the CMD`s that will not bother with avatar creation, I'll just use the default, even if they put a rear view mirror in the ships so you can at least look at your cartoon creation i'll not bother with it.
I am inclined to think ship-launched fighters will be just like when you deploy the SRV, you will then have the option to send your main ship off to a safe place.

Multi-crew, I'll give it a go but I hardly see any real CMD`s anyway so its going to be hard, and I am not going to actively seek out players just to try Multi-crew. It's just like wings, never seen a human player wing. I did try it with a mate but he was totally confused by it and gave up.

I think when PP came out it all sounded good but in reality it sucked. If only FD would concentrate on the game we have now and expand on what we have it could be so much better, it seam to me FD just want to do a quick bolt on and then move onto the next bit of rubbishy bolt on.

I just think a LOT of people are going to be disappointed .
 
Multicrew might be interesting if they actually get the P2P working so you can get on the same session as your friends.

That being said I mostly play single player so I guess Multicrew will bring nothing for me.
I hope that FD reconsider the 'multiplayer only' approach for multicrew and actually add npc crew.
My guess is that one look at the Open vs Solo statistics would be enough to convince them that this would be a great idea.
Knowing FD, they'll probably look at the statistics and go 'Hmm. Players seem to prefer solo play. Let's make these new features multiplayer only and force...errr...convince people to play our way.'

Avatar selection doesn't really buzz me, but is an essential part of the things to come I suppose.
Ship launched fighters I do look forward to. I HOPE they get the SJA Super Steroids AI. I FEAR they'll end up with the SJA Zombie Spin AI though :)
 
Cant wait for my own avatar. I´d be more thrilled about multicrew if we could actually hire npc crewmembers, as it stands its just plain useless to me. As for the fighters... unless theyre next to impossible to hit at medim to long range they will be about as useful as a single shot of chaff.
