multi-crew, avatar creation and ship-launched fighters.

I'm looking forward to logging into the uncanny valley forum when everyone is going to use their badly created avatar as forum avatar.

I think, it's more likely to be more uncanny balcony TBH... This is the internet, so expect lots of female characters with balcony sliders set to max...
 
Going to be another "BIG FAIL" - Multi-Crew tell me why this is not "STUPID"...

Ok - your going to take up space now with an AI Fighter - programed by Dev. Team (Save me from more STUPID)...

AVATAR - Really - we can not even get to skin our own Ships (I can do a better paint job)...

I think the avatar is a very nice nod to the players, giving us a chance to personalize our commanders! I do wish that paint jobs were available in game but I am grateful at least that there ARE paint jobs available at all! Now if I were to truly complain about the paint jobs it would be that they're not available for all ships, but I am sure that they will turn them out eventually so I will just have to be patient.


As for multi-crew, it is optional and you don't HAVE to do it. I think it has the most potential for combat as they will probably allow one person to fly while another person fires the weapons, like in star wars you had the scene with the millennium falcon shooting down Tie Fighters, i imagine that is what multi-crew will mainly be utilized for and you should know that it will mos like be a LOT easier for a person to aim a weapon separately from flying the ship as well. I mean battlefield has the same thing except with helicopters, one person flies and the other shoots.

Honestly I appreciate that they're adding so much content which focuses on players.

The only thing I will say is that I don't like the idea of an AI fighter, but that is from a personal Bias because I've always dreamed of the F63 Condor being utilized for exploration *-*

The F63 Condor and the Imperial Fighter are very small ships, and I've flown against them (and in the F63 Condor) in CQC a bit, I can't imagine them being very efficient in a dogfight but I suppose they will give your opponent something else to shoot at for a limited time.

Those are the ones I`m awaiting most - bring some life and personality to the game, I hate to feel like AI injected in to the ship. Also its the one step closer to walking around.

When they do implement walking around they're going to have to make the game a lot more detailed, from a distance the game looks pretty good, but if you've ever detached the camera to take a closer look the graphics are sadly lacking :p

To be fair multicrew sounds like a gimmick at best, there´s no way you can make it balanced vs full wing without throwing believability completely out of the window. The commander creator will be only a novelty at first, but its still a basis for what is to come later.

Im curious how they'll go about it as well. I can see it as a great addition for those with VR on account of how damned cool it will be to see yourself sharing a virtual cabin with someone and it can be an honest force multiplier with ship launched fighters and land based missions where you have both the srv and the ship working in unison. aside from those moments however, I'm also a bit confused as to how they can keep it interesting, balanced and believable.

There will be many players complaining about how much room the fighters take up inside the ships i suspect, who is going to give up the cargo space for an AI controlled fighter if that fighter is as easy to kill as the current NPCs?

Or multi-crew could be, just spitballing here, aimed at having fun with mates, cruising through the galaxy in one ship? Have one grab a SRV, two a F63 and knock out a base? I dont remotely care about "if its not as powerfull as 4 ships its useless" arguments. :)

I for one an holding out hope that the F63 Condor and the Imperial Fighter will be able to be converted to SRVs and used for planetary exploration, it would make exploring planets with High Gs much safer for larger ships. Because you could leave your Anaconda/Corvette in orbit while you land on the planet with the F63 Condor. Now you may ask, who would go exploring in a corvette? To which I have to ask WHO WOULDN'T want to go exploring in a corvette?

Same here. Unfortunately, devs already said no SRV in f63/imp fighter. Lore wise, a Conda/corvette should be able to launch sideys, so maybe one day...

I didn't say I wanted an SRV IN the F63 or the Imperial Fighter, I said I was hoping that the F63/Imperial Fighter can BE the Srvs! Space convertibles! :D Hell I mean the f63 condor already does kind of look like a space rover. Alas I realize that my hope is probably in vain...

Sidewinders aren't as cool looking as the f63 condor >.>
 
ED struggles lately to suspend the disbelief, as seen in the latest update ( I´m looking at you gimped c4 weapons, strange material combos for weapon upgrades, engineer "magic", healing lasers, and ships the size of carriers turning on a dime).
 
Maybe the fighters will come in handy in retrieval missions where pirates jump in on you when you're trying to scoop the canisters.
 
My kids are pretty small right now, but when they're old enough to play I think multi-crew will be epic.

If Fdev is prepared to amp the capabilities of the NPC's and future Thargoids to the same level they were at when 2.1 dropped I think ship launched fighters could be quite useful, too.

Multi-crew too sounds nice.
But it sucks that we can't have a NPC-crew.

Edit: well that quote went a bit wrong. Was a reply to the commander that wants his condor to morph into an SRV.

No npc crew is a big let down for me and I think it would of added immensely to the atmosphere not to have empty chairs in half my ships.

Even with active online buddies I don't see people using it that often after the initial novelty ; I think most will want to fly their own ship not play weapons officer on a trade run.
 
I don't know why, but I'm pretty sure I will try launching fighters couple of times and then forget about it. Not really interested in multi-crew, because I don't have friends to play with. It would be cool if we'll be able to use NPCs tho... Avatars is interesting. More customization!

I would say that you speak for a large portion of the current ED community. I've got a reasonably large friends list on the XB1 (Gold Member since 2001 LIVE BETA) which was the first platform I purchased this game for. (I have since built a high end gaming PC specifically for this game and NMS) For whatever reason, only a handful of my XB1 friends purchased the game and none of them stuck with it past a few months. No doubt the fact that the XB1 version was a total trainwreck for the first several months of the GPP didn't help any! ;)

But because of the disappointing adoption rate among my friends resulting in ZERO friends to invite into my game, I have never been interested in this Multi-Crew thing. Like you, I would much prefer FD to focus on polishing the main game and the original core features of 2.0 before going off and adding yet another new feature to the game, that if handled like all the previous efforts is going to end up breaking more parts of the main game, while offering another level of half baked game play.

The ship launched fighters sound like a lot more interesting and USEFUL addition to the game, but at this point in time, I don't have a heck of a lot of confidence in the game's developers to do it right. I guess we will have to wait and see how it all pans out.

But as far as Multi-Crew is concerned, I can't think of a feature addition to this game I would use less.
