Multicrew trolling - it works!

I'm very useful to improve the game experience for everyone. Such flaws need to be addressed to 'force' the devs looking into it.
A simple panel were the CMDR set permissions what each role can do and what not would help. :D

Then address them with a ticket including your suggestion, it doesn't require you to be an exploiter and a troll.

I mentioned to someone I was looking forward to the first "Griefers in Open Multicrew" thread. Ive had the popcorn ready for a while now so thank you for showing me a glimpse of whats to come.

So far my casual, unprotected multicrew experiences have been positive but then I guess some folks outside of the Piracy community aren't as accomadating as we are.

I havent had a three way yet, so if anyone wants to look me up?

I dunno... if I were designing it I would have at least tried to put in safeguards to minimise abuses... still I can't say I'm not amused by the whole debacle. "Hoist by your own petard" is the expression that comes to mind.

Like what? If OP cleans out all heat sinks modules, the helm was already not using the tools available. There is no reason to keep all heatsinks active as an explorer, its just being sloppy and naive. You could add additional ways to do the same thing, but whats the point? At some point crew will have access to some things, and they can do negative stuff with it. Its one of the crappy things about online gaming, and reveals a lot about our species.

Thats not to say I dont like the idea of assigning this or that to different crew members, but that would be for better gameplay rather than counter-griefing. The latter would just be a bonus.

Just pathetic, really. But OP is why you disable heatsinks when opening your ship, only open the ship when at a sight as an explorer and lock the door of your spaceship when you go out for groceries.

Helm can disable modules, crew cannot enable. Explorer helms are naive and forget to do so. In combat you immediately kick any crewmember who launches an SCB without permission, and add them to banlist. Just like you disable turrets/hangar when approaching/leaving stations. If you go through multiple banks without noticing you're doing something wrong. Its not a major flaw, its a minor nuisance parasiting of the ignorance of some cmdrs.

Very well said. The Helm is responsible of his ship.

Wow... and people say the game is boring... here is a player having heaps of fun pressing a single button to deploy some boosters and heat sinks...

Personally, id say like one did above, OP, you are simply being obnoxious, boring, simple and if thats the only way you can derive enjoyment then... best of luck to you. Once you have been slapped on peoples ban list and your ilk driven more people away from open and open multi-crew, we will see you whinging in chorus about the lack of open players.

To coin a phrase

HAR-HAR-HAR

This is why we cant have nice things

I don't have a suggestion for heatsinks other than disabling them, quite probably coz I've not tried multicrew and have no interest in it. If I did perhaps I would. However re your earlier comment about crew shooting cops, having the bounty attached to the gunner rather the helm seems obvious. How about with sensitive modules like heatsinks leaving them crew controlled but have helm hit a "confirm" button when they're used? Or even have them default to NOT available to crew and require the helm top"opt in" rather than "opting out"? I'm sure there's simple methods to at least reduce the risks, if only a modicum of thought had been applied beforehand.

Well, all "working as intended" I see.

Frontier : We wanted to make MultiCrew as accessible as possible.

What can you say... CQC matchmaking ported right in the main Game and *voila* there's your tiny "I have zero clue who I just let onboard my Ship and I have no idea what's going to happen next" Problem.

Note that they just wanted to make it accessible. They did. 100% Success, no argument there.
Also note that they never mentioned anything about it having to make any sense nor be ever triple-checked for abuse potential (which is the very 1st thing you have to do in ELITE : Toxic for anything MultiPlayer).
They did think about Credits, though, albeit with mixed results. But they did.

Now it's so incredibly accessible that you're better off not using it :D
(seriously... you'd either have to be a crazy fool or "feeling really lucky" to let complete strangers take control of vital Ship Systems in most typical Configs/Roles)

Disclaimer : I did run MultiPew trials with people I know (Friends list).
- the results were "less than stellar" to say the least. Bug heaven, happily augmented by the well-known P2P "qualities". No more words needed really.
- my own time as a "3rd person Arcade Gunner" I won't even mention. Simply abysmal, I know far better Arcade titles from the mid/late-90's if I want to get that Retro Feeling back onto screen.

This was just the start, i have other things to do in mind.....to know the MC ship specifications like shield strength etc. i go back to my ship and hunt them (hope instancing works).

Then address them with a ticket including your suggestion, it doesn't require you to be an exploiter and a troll.

Why? It's not an exploit or a bug. It's an intended feature. ;)

I certainly think the helm needs more control over what features to surrender to joining CMDRs (I'd like to disable the gunner role entirely on my typical Corvette setup as it's turrets aren't suited to MC and it's got two fighters). However, I haven't had that many issues with it; people deliberately trolling in multi-crew seems pretty rare. I've had about twenty people pass through my ship in the last few days, and only one of them seemed to be the least bit disruptive...all the rest generally tried to make themselves useful, with varying degrees of success.

That said, if you aren't prepared for random people to behave in random ways, it's probably not wise to turn your vessel into a public toilet. There is no real way to do significant harm to my ship via multi-crew and I generally pay attention.

Head, Hit, Nail, on The.!!

OP is the poster child (pun intended) for why this game needs Solo and Private groups.

Thanks OP! More people leaving open means more FD will need to develop for solo players.

Which will not happen :D Because with solo players they don't earn enough money :D

IMHO stuff like that counts as harassment and should be reported in game.

Don't be afraid to report the trolls people!

This would be a reward for me. I like to collect infractions and reports.

I play with multiple accounts, thanks to family share on xbox i only need to buy the game one time.
So, if one of my accounts are busted, i simply use another to continue ;)

So we have new role for Multicrew, NOT trolling but con man/woman. I like it.
Now just need to change option to change name of commander often, BAM, new feature NO work for FD :D

Or how about FD actually test these things before going to Beta even? instead of their flawed implementation. Don't get me wrong i am a fanboy of this game, but Multicrew is just plain bad for the game in its current state. Withdraw it,, redesign it, test it and then trow it at us again.
