Multicrew trolling - it works!

Oh boy, this is comedy gold.

Folks...

You take a risk playing in Open.

You take a risk letting randoms on your ship.

There are preparations you can make, and a watchful eye on new entrants is warranted.

Me? Crews are by invite only. Though I happily join others who have opened up their ships as that is the best way to find new people to invite to mine.

Hello Commanders!
I just thought I'd drop my own two cents in here.
The concept of Multi-crew, at its core, is about cooperation, and trust. If folk are going to troll each other, there's a limit to how much protection we can (or should) put in place.
One of gunner's abilities is to be able to fire countermeasures. Gunner can be effective at this, poor at this, or deliberately bad. Anyone who would want to go down the last track is, in my opinion, someone I would not want to Multi-crew with, or wing with.
To some degree, folk have to take responsibility for their own actions. There's no mechanical upside to this unpleasant behaviour, so I see this as different from say, crime, because the game actively encourages criminal behaviour; when folk complain that the justice system is not fair enough, we say "OK", how can we address the balance and make it fairer.
Firing shield cells repeatedly for no good reason is just an unpleasant thing to do. And I'm fairly certain it is more likely to be detrimental to the community than helpful.

So, it's not a "bug" it's a "feature", right?

Mr. Sammarco, hello!

I would suggest that a best case fix would be retaining/preserving Helm CMDR choice over ship assets, wherever possible.

Already we have a "Fire Group" assignment page, and I can choose to put any item in that list as Fire Group "1" or "2" (in addition to any direct keybinds for certain things). Please consider adding a third new Fire Group for Helm CMDRs, signified with the letter "C" for "Crew". Any counter measures assigned to Fire Group "C" would be accessible to Multi-crew who have joined their ship.

Then, a Helm CMDR welcoming guest crew can make clear choices as to when to turn over control of critical modules to visitor crew. If it's some random player with unknown motives, then I can choose to leave the SCB Fire Group set to "None", "1", or "2", and it stays under my own Helm control. Maybe the visiting crew is somebody on my friend list, that I already know will play the role well? Then I can set the SCB to "C" and they can take over.

A simple and easy way to give CMDR some basic control of the most critical defensive elements, which as we see, can easily be abused.

Thanks!

Crime do not need to be rewarded, to be tasty.

But it makes sense, why would you let anyone you don't know well onboard your ship and give them control over a bunch of systems. they don't even have to stay and die with you if it came to that. Holome - worst idea ever

Exactly.

Don't like the risks? Don't use the feature.

Sounds like a pretty solid argument to me ;)

OP I think i remember you on my ship. You didn't stay long maybe because of the lack of SCB's, heat sinks, and exploitable things. (except turrets which i remember several times hitting unwanted people.....) :)

Yesterday i've joined several ships, for bounty hunting and exploring.

Joining ships and just sitting there, doing nothing and get money for it, perfect for me.
If they ask why i'm not fighting, i said....oh i'm new to the game, need to figure out how everything works. (If they only would check my profile lol)

Now i found the option to deploy SCB's, which i did....oh nice, 3x cell banks.....enough to make the ship overheat.
The CMDR were slightly distracted and worried why all the SCB's are gone.
I said, obviously a bug *gggggg
Finally they figured it was me...but it was almost too late...they had to leave the haz res.

Found it more enjoyable instead of actually fighting.

I then tried to find some exploration vessels.....one were near Sag A.
Oh see, there are heatsinks to deploy.....the ASP CMDR hasn't realized it was me.
Another CMDR was even further away, heading to beagle point......and after my telepresence visit he lost all his heatsinks, i told him he need to restock and left.

What we have learned today?
Multicrew has flaws.....terrible flaws....which needs to be fixed. I might join some other ships today again, coz it was fun to troll innocent CMDR's.

Wondering, would this be grounds for a CMDR shadow ban?

I will raise a ticket with support and see what they say.

Why is there no rep system for crew?
In previous games, I had to select my (NPC) crew from the bulletin board, where I could ask questions about their previous jobs.

As the game is now, multi crew is basically for friends only. An these are hard to find with in-game tools.

While the game stays as it is:
1. Try out new crew members in inexpensive ships in police free combat scenarios. Upon good performance, friend them.
2. Only invite friends to the bigger/more expensive ships. Newer open these ships to the general public.

Lol, I see what you did there. Too bad its talking about totally different things.

You get it though. I know you do.

If you don't like the risk, don't use it. If you don't like someone sitting afk earning Equal to Wing payouts? Don't let them on your ship.

As the host, the choice is yours. Stop making that choice for other people though.

Let's not let that discussion bleed in here.
