My Block list is longer than yours.

I’ve only blocked one other player, however not for any action in game. They were abusive (or jealous) about Lave Radio and constantly dropping messages in chat. So, on the block list they went. Mind you I haven’t seen the offender in game or on the forums for years, but you never know.

I keep reading the title as if I'm listening to Cigaro from System of a Down, and now I can't shake it off my head

My block list is much bigger than yours
My block list can walk right through the door
With a feeling so pure
It's got you screaming back for more
For me it’s the thread title - it sounds more like Kelis.

My block list drops all gankers real hard
And they’re like, it’s longer than yours
Damn right, it’s longer than yours
I can teach you, but I have to charge

Pop into a system, scan all the ships. FSDI, Gromboms, Wanted, + Burst builds, - insta block. Leave a station, scan all the ships inside looking for the same gear - insta block. See the system chat with Commanders touting their gank prowess, insta block. At a CG or exploration site with the same features - insta block.

A block list made with such elements is totally useless... 🤷‍♂️

I use alot of that equipment - sometimes I even get the occasional Wanted tag (PvP/Powerplay with crimes turned on - grrrr!)
But I don't gank - I target the gankers, I protect the lawful Cmdrs - and I need similar equipment as gankers for similar reasons as them (Mass lock, FSD reboot, TTK etc)

(Also - my block list is 100% empty) o7

I am regularly wanted, with the accompanying notoriety. Odyssey does that to you. Granted, my bounties are at least one or two orders of magnitude lower than bounties of those one might want to block... but still. Getting wanted and racking up bounties is easy without PvP / Ganking. Not a good metric.
The point is that you are trying to drop a bad reputation, and if the list worked by reputation, you would automatically be removed from the list.

My block list is empty; I've yet to encounter any player whose behaviour is bad enough to warrant me blocking them. I'm starting to think that the frequency of gankers and other time-wasters in this game is rather overstated.
For the most part yes. Open is generally indistinguishable from Solo.
Back on console I had perhaps 2 dozen on my Blocklist, all CG campers, which worked well enough.
I haven't really done a competitive CG since transfer so nothing like that on PC.

To be fair, I've yet to participate in a CG. Maybe when that time comes, I'll start running into the donkeys in Open. Mind you, I've also been to Deciat and ShinDez in Open (both alleged gank sites from what I've heard) about a dozen times all told, and haven't run into any hostile CMDRs yet. Maybe I've just gotten lucky with instancing.

Some in there which -luckily- I do not remember exactly why/when

For sure racisct/Booboo talking. All were reported to Fdev too

Didn't you have the Reverse Ironman Blocklist policy?
That I did! Hence my foray into this thread, despite being an Elite Player Emeritus. That "policy" worked quite well for me, though it had some exceptions, like blocking people due to toxic vile comms, along with pad blockers, station rammers, cheaters, etc.

I also cleared my blocklist of "proper" gankers (not the cheaters or toxic texters) every six months or so for a renewed challenge.

(Note that I didn't invent this "reverse ironman" idea, I just adopted and promoted it)

How is it unfair outside of a CZ? Surely you are not a new player to know about grom bombs and such.
This is a fair question. In most MMOs there are pvp pve partition mechanics in the open environment. In this game, that partition mechanic is the block list. Within a strictly faction based pvp environment (CZs) you are there to fight intentionally.

If I am doing coop AX base fighting, or grinding mats at a Guardian ruin, visiting a newly discovered lore site (while meeting the like minded-curious), running a multicrew, or cooping a Pirate 7, getting an FSD special at Deciat, I don't need the nuisance commander trollin for lulz. They aren't there to pirate cargo, they are there to hobo. That's fine, they are using the mechanics as designed, and so am I.
