my first Impression of ED on the PS4pro

I'm not thrilled with the way the cockpit moves around as you fly, it makes it really really hard to see important information on your display/gauges. also makes me feel just a tiny tiny bit travel sick. I wish that was lessened and wasn't quite so severe.

When you look around your ship, to check pannels, request docking and whatnot, it's precisely when screen tearing becomes more severe, to the point of creating motion sickness due to the image tear and stutter. And from what you've just mentioned, it seems to be the case with you (Slight headache/stomachache?).
Some can bear it more than others, but everyone will have to deal with it, until FDev fixes the issue.

Don't worry, you and I are immune :D

I've been playing all day (mostly the docking tutorial as I need the practice)
just from looking/playing the tutorials I can see that I am going to be totally and utterly engrossed in this game and the hours I'll put into it are shocking haha.
it's amazing, the sound is stunning, the graphics are great and it just feels so so damn good!

however

(you know there would be a downside huh?)

There is an option under graphics marked as Reduce Camera Shake, this might help with this issue.

That'll learn me to read all the posts before replying ;)

Unless you mean the headlook via motion control of the pad, which you can also turn off if you want, and just bind it to right stick only.

So assuming this will need patching after day one, how difficult is it to push hotfixes out via PSN? Do Sony drag their heels and do a QA pass like MS?

Yeah im afraid so :( I can't remember who's fastest tbh but it can take upto a couple of weeks of testing and then frontier have to pull the servers down again.

Can't see this being a quick fix anyway tbh

Well, us xboxers got the 'Borg Cube Of Death' bug when Horizons first launched. It got patched quite quickly. It wouldn't be Elite if it didn't ship with a few 'teething' issues.

Haha I missed that one :) I can only see this issue being fixed over time as they better optimise the game.

Not ideal but I'm not massively upset or worried just yet.

I do remember when playing Horizon Zero down at what speed they delivered there patches in the first two weeks it was amazing fast .

Yeah but they are a first party studio so probably get much higher priority.

Yes you are right but if Sony really wants they can do it and I think Frontiers can offer them self to throw a little bit more money for releasing a quick patch ( at least i hope :p

I do think Frontier will be on top of this, because the PS4 event will receive huge press coverage in the gaming community, relatively-speaking, and Frontier wants that to be good press, not "Vsync Gate" or whatever it'll be called.

I think we as a console community need to approach potential issues in this launch with professionalism and tact. This game is important, as we rarely see games in this genre, not to mention enomous scope and community building potential. I am confident our fleet of commanders will help shuck off the stigma that a) PC ports that aren't initially multiplatform are always bad and b) we can experience the same level of depth and passion of our PC counterparts in a massive title that doesnt require Mountain Dew, Doritos or memes.

So let's be fun, supportive and fly the paint off some starships.

Viva la console
