Bloody hell ! Something you don't know ?!?! Got to be the first time ever !!!I have no idea about any of those things!

Seriously though, I hope somebody does know ........ could be very useful. On the Galaxy Map, there is a Grid Reference (see below, together with more questions).

A vertical and horizontal Grid Reference would allow you to locate a 3 dimension point in the ED galaxy. I would have thought this very useful.![]()
Much too warm!Oh ! I've been trying to scoop at 95 to 100 degrees !I thought that was what the video tut. said.

Thanks. No wonder I was having trouble.Much too warm!
Get above 80 and the warnings start with minor damage not long after along with sparks and smoke from dashboard.
I generally ease off if the temperature gets above 75.
The other thing to watch out for is starting to charge the Frame Shift Drive too soon after finishing scooping, I tend to wait until I have seen the temperature drop on the display before charging, if you start too soon the temperature gain from the drive can take you into the heat damage region again.
I found this looking for something else, but here's a great start:On the Galaxy Map, there is a Grid Reference (see below, together with more questions).

Right ...... I normal. on the galaxy map, highlight the system I want to journey to, and click on the second icon which marks the journey for me.
I don't select Econ. or Rapid and I'm assuming it's set on Econ. by default.
How do I select Rapid ?
Is that one of the other icons next to the route planner icon ?
" ........ here "FDS" ...... " What do you mean by this ?
Oh ! Not good !
How nice the I can follow all that you are saying (except about the FSD). A month ago I would not have understood any of it ! Ha !
I thought you only wanted to do ethical things?Maybe one needs to carry drugs.
Well I'm in the UK so midnight GMT is..... well you know.If it is 12.00 midnight GMT, what time is it with each of you ?
There is a vertical grid reference that you see when you scroll the map vertically. 0.0.0 is Sol.On the Galaxy Map, there is a Grid Reference (see below, together with more questions).

No it's not lol.Seriously though, I hope somebody does know ........ could be very useful.![]()
I am in the UK so GMT give or take an hour depending on whether we are BST British Summer Time or not. The clocks change by an hour later this month.cribs3 ? Quain ? Codger ? and anybody else who is a regular poster (or less regular poster):
If it is 12.00 midnight GMT, what time is it with each of you ?
This will help me work out when you should "be up" or "in bed". Well ..... that is unless you are like me: I'm all over the place .....
By-the-way, 12 midnight GMT is 11.00 am for me. I think ........![]()

Well, I never paid that much attention to the grid references before. You have just taught me they are positions relative to SolI found this looking for something else, but here's a great start:
Any system search tools with a "search along an X, Y, Z line" feature?
I've been thinking about advice to pick a direction and start exploring, but I'm not very good at deciding which way to go on my own. So I was thinking of plugging in random numbers from random.org into an X,Y,Z format, but I don't know where to start with tools that might point me towards...forums.frontier.co.uk
and using the reference shown in the above thread:
and in particular:Elite: Dangerous Index
www.spansh.co.uk
which involves X:Y:Z coordinates.Elite: Dangerous Index
www.spansh.co.uk
This leads me to think 90:40:0 as indicating coodinates X = 90, Y = 40 and Z = 0
I did a search for 0:0:0 and it came up with SOL.
I think spansh.co.uk can give answers to some of my questions above. In fact, it already has......
I will explore further ........
Thanks mate. Yes, I think it's 1.00 am for midnight in the UK at the moment.I am in the UK so GMT give or take an hour depending on whether we are BST British Summer Time or not. The clocks change by an hour later this month.
Me teach you something about ED ??? I'm printing this post off and framing it !!!Well, I never paid that much attention to the grid references before. You have just taught me they are positions relative to Sol![]()
Yes, that matches my calculation with it being 11.25 pm here at the moment. It's 1.25 pm in the UK now.
What are you checking for? Those numbers are just for aesthetics they don't actually do anything in game.I need to do some more checking. crib3 thrown me a wobbily so I'm now a bit uncertain about which is X, which is Y, and which is Z .
Yes, "hear" makes so much more sense. For "select Rapid" you need to select FASTEST ROUTES marked 2 below.
If you are going a longer distance and want to use neutron star and white dwarf star jet cone boosts also tick 3 USE JET CONE BOOST. You need a fuel scoop fitted to scoop the blue swirling jet cone. The number of times I remove the fuel scoop from a ship for shorter range travel, arrive at a neutron star and try to scoop the jet cone without a fuel scoop fitted...

" here "Frameshift Drive Supercharge""
I think auto correct on my phone is auto correcting to the wrong word.
It should say "until you hear the Frameshift Drive Supercharged" announcement and a message also flashes up top right of the screen.
Sorry, I don't agree. See my reply to Quain in Post #1098What are you checking for? Those numbers are just for aesthetics they don't actually do anything in game.
I just had lunchThanks mate. Yes, I think it's 1.00 am for midnight in the UK at the moment.
Ha! Note I very carefully said "one" not "I".I thought you only wanted to do ethical things?
I got on some internet site that said that made it 1.00 am .......Well I'm in the UK so midnight GMT is..... well you know.
There is a vertical grid reference that you see when you scroll the map vertically..
Its approx. 12.30 am here ...... Think I might have late dinner ...... or an early breakfast ......I just had lunch![]()
What is the nearest System to you Quain right now? Maybe just the one you're in ........ ThanksYes, "hear" makes so much more sense.
And thanks for the Econ/Fast advice. I knew I'd seen it somewhere.

I don't agree. Just look at these figures:
Look at the Galaxy Map Quain provided in Post #1089. That reference you can just see, 9530 : ??24 : 19790. Where the bloody hell is that ?
I'm at 90 : 40 : 0
SOL is 0 : 0 : 0
All I do know is that you're light years away from me, and that's a gross understatement !
And I think that's useful to know. In fact, I can pinpoint exactly where we both are .....
(I need to study more spansh.co.uk.)
