Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

I saw that Bali is opening up for visitors from some places now. Maybe this affects you, Wombat?

Thanks Codger. Australia is not included as yet. I think the Indonesians are p!ssed off by only being given less than12 hours notice about Australia canceling their submarine contract with the French. Not as p!ssed of as the French, however. It's just typical of how Australia treats its near neighbors. In truth, we can't be trusted. And I, unfortunately, have to agree. Note you are not included either, maybe for a similar reason.

I made one more visit to Sagittarius A* and visited the star in the system "Source 2" which I had not done before, and experimented with flying into the blackhole exclusion zone which forces emergency exit from supercruise to get as close as possible to it. Being this close to such a high source of gravity overheats the ship when charging the FSD, so I'm launching heatsinks and even synthesising heat sink ammo at one point. There is also a science vessel in the system I somehow missed visiting before. The "Source 2" visit is not in the video as there are other stars around that look similar. About 14 minutes playing with a supermassive blackhole... maybe now the itch is more thoroughly scratched I won't keep coming back 🤭

I happened across this very old thread (from 2015). The poster is talking about taking his T6 into the black, and states that his jump range is 30LY, which he considers excellent.

I found it interesting, because this was way back at the beginning, before there was a Colonia, when no one had been to Sag A*, when the entire galaxy was uncharted.

Nowadays we have it so easy, and we don't even realize it I think :)

But those early days were exciting, too, so much unknown.

Found this pic in my screenies folder. I forgot about it, but this is me and my pet Thargoid sensor. I think they are alive. Maybe. :)

Yes, a very short time in Gamma, until ZR had beelined there. :D
Ah so YOU were there at the very beginning? I'm sorry I missed those days. I started a while before Horizons came out, so I did get to enjoy the game before Engineering was a thing. Not that I hate Engineering, but it was a different, simpler time in many ways.

Need to explain.
It's here or in the 'pit for me. Can't do justice to both, hence my flying time has really suffered.
So I now intend to spend all my time in the 'pit and not here at the forum. Sad, but inevitable if I want to enjoy myself.
Gains?
eg. Supercruise drops, never miss now. Even at Planet Station drops. It was just practice, practice, practice.
I'll still visit here, but I'll be so much quieter. 🤫 😉

I do both at the same time. Console for flying, phone for forum use.

Glad you sorted supercruise drops now. Like you say... practice, practice, practice.

If we had crossplay, I'd join you in Open.

Catch you later when you've had some quality flying time.

Enjoy your 'pit time.

You know what, I'm actually starting to miss the bubble and my other ships stored there. I'm going to get the last 5% combat rank to expert level, get the armour engineering done on the Krait II here and play with it a little before starting my scenic route visiting POIs on the way back to Ray Gateway. I will return to Colonia in future - other directions out of here to explore, but it's good to keep something in reserve worth doing for later.
I've got time off work next week, so maybe sometime during next week I will have made it back to Diaguandri and I'll be able to visit Jameson Memorial station. There's an Imperial Cutter there with my name on it, and I'm looking forward to taking the Anaconda out for a blast in the Alliance controlled systems in the California Nebula. No rush to do these things if other opportunities arise when I get back.
Planning my route Colonia to bubble now.

EDIT: Oh, I just made Expert combat rank sooner than I though I would. That brings plans forward a little.

I get like that when I am out exploring. After a few weeks, I am just itching to get back to any populated system just to see some ships again.

Then, after spending some time in the bubble, I feel the urge to get away from it all and go exploring again.
