Need some information about buying the Odyssey

Hello Comrades!
I want to purchase Odyssey content to my main account at Frontier official store. I found the keys are selling in some places for nice price much lower then in official Frontier store. I want to check, is it possible to activate the key for steam account on my Frontier official account ? Or can I buy the Odyssey on my steam account and link it with my official Frontier account to get access to content ?
Thanks and good luck !

No. You can’t mix and match. You might be able to link your main account to Steam, but if you do you’re stuck using Steam from then on, with all the problems that go with it. I would not advise it. I did the opposite and abandoned Steam for ED entirely.

People love making stuff up around here :)

if you have a pre-2019 fdev-store base game you can export steam keys (see the support site), then buy EDO on Steam. From that point you can use the fdev launcher (or steam). I did this recently. I presume you can switch the 'buy odyssey on steam' to 'buy odyssey from dodgy reseller and register on steam'.

If your base-game is more recent you can't export the steam key, so check you can do that before buying Odyssey.

Let me get this right please. You are saying that you can link your Frontierstore-bought account to steam (yes I understand that) and then in Steam, buy the Odyssey DLC (yes I can see that ok) - but then can you confirm that you definitely have the Odyssey option when you launch that account's stand-alone launcher (i.e. without using Steam)?

I ask this as we know that Frontierstore never has sale events anymore whereas Steam often does.

For you (and OP) I decided to try it out, and created a VM and installed only the standalone ED launcher on it. Logged it in my Frontier store account, which is linked to a Steam account that owns Odyssey.

Note that my copy of the base game was bought from Steam, but this was in 2018 when the Steam version just gave you a key for the game on the Frontier store - so the base game is owned by my Frontier account, and Odyssey is owned by my Steam account.
So yes, it appears it works.

Yup - I did just that for an alt recently - precisely because there are no sales on the fdev store. Made a new steam acct, exported the key as per the Support site, then bought Odyssey (on that steam acct). Still use the ED launcher as I don't ever log in on the 'alt' steam acct.

Thanks, now Iam sure it should work nice.

Yes, that is the reason I ask that question. I can buy the DLC in the official store for full price, but I also search for freebie;) I purchased my ED copy in 2014-15, so I can attach it to the steam. Thanks )

Now Iam interesting in investigation. if I buy Odyssey DLC key for steam activation(it costs 8-10 USD), would it be accepted in official Frontier store ? I mean I want to activate it in the official Frontier store, instead of Steam. There is no information about it.

My friends, it works fine, I have purchased the DLC on Steam and I can run it in the official launcher(not in steam). The commander data(money, rep, etc) everything from the main account. Thanks for help!
