Needs it's own thread... RDR2 release date on PC

I'm stuck with a Legendary Bison pelt on the back of my horse that I can't use for anything, but I cant just get rid of it, either, due to its uniqueness. Apparently I need another item to go with it for a unique recipe, but I haven't the foggiest where to find that item.

From limited reading to avoid spoilers it seems you can take this item to a fence, and choose 'Buy' from their menu, and it will offer you the crafted item in exchange.

Legendary animal pelts you have to take to a trapper (marked on the map with an animal paw print) who will buy it from you and craft certain ridiculous looking furry items for you to buy and wear.

The other bits from the Bison (and other legendary animals) like the horns etc, you take to a fence. Under the craft menu at the fence, there'll be several Trinkets and Talismans you can have him make for you if you supply him items from the 'recipe'...these can be a bit harder to find and are sometimes tied to stranger missions, side quests and the like. Each trinket and talisman crafted and worn offers some unique perks like increased dead-eye time, better stamina regeneration etc, etc.

I was actually mistaking the horn for the pelt. The pelt is taking up all the room on the back of my horse (who I named Star after Corwin's legendary horse from the Chronicles of Amber). I need to decide what to do with it to free up space. One question I have is: do the clothing sets from the Trapper made with Legendary pelts confer any stat benefits/perks, or are they purely cosmetic in nature?

They're so ridiculous I wouldn't be seen alive wearing them lest I be shot for offenses against good taste :D

Other than being Cowboy fashion crimes in their own right, I'm unsure of what they do since I've never worn any...

Edit: If you take the trapper some perfect non legendary pelts (Bear, Beaver, Alligator etc) he'll craft you a special saddle. I have the bear fur one which I do like.

Yeah, I was thinking they looked pretty bad, too. My favorite outfit just out and about doing my thing is the stalker get up. It works pretty fashionably with any activity I find myself participating in. If you don't make clothes with your Legendary pelts, what do you do with them as an alternative?

I'm not sure there is an alternative, you can't sell them or anything. The trapper makes good saddles and reinforced weapon gear once you start to tackle the challenges...

Wow, now I'm at ~24% completion.
Getting this out of the way: I had a fair share of crashes, interestingly it is mission dependent - I.e. a series of crashes at a specific mission, various points, then hours of smooth gameplay. I noted the commit charge to spike to 23mb with a smaller CPU peak... having said that I don't get the complaints of 4-core CPU out of depth with this title, my 7700k (4.8ghz) is loaded to about 60-70% at most, even spikes don't go anywhere near full load. AC Origins/Odyssey was much more CPU intensive and comparatively I have no stutters in RDR2. Playing 1440p 75gz monitor , GPU is a 1080ti.

The game so far is sublime. It has a very gloomy ambiance despite the beautiful environment. R* has done its best so far in setting a tone for the narrative.
I am totally in sync with the slow-paced flow despite the urge to see more of the map. It feels actions have consequences and unlike most other games it really feels that I'm not playing a superhero - it definitely impact how I play the missions and my interactions with random NPCs.

Technically, after tweaking the settings, this is one of the most beautiful game I've ever played. AC Origins is up there, but the was RDR2 blends details between near-far objects is fantastic, while weather, fog and lighting effects are really well done.
What seals the excellence are the detailed animations, interactions.

TL;DR: apart of the crashes, I am pretty happy with the experience so far - I will try to take it in slowly. :)

I thought this was a good discussion of RDR2's pacing and plot delivery:

Yup...most games are pew, pew..sprint to the next bit, more pew. RDR2 is more like walking your horse along through the scenery, seeing a deer, scope it..nope, only 1 star I'll find another...walk the horse along, meet some random character and engage in a few seconds of conversation, help them out, see a feature in the landscape, go check it out...find a gold nugget, head to the fence...

...Then remember you were looking for deer.

Someone (a Mexican chap I believe) tried to steal my horse last night. He pulled me off, jumped on, and rode off.

It didn't go well for him. One whistle, and the horse threw him, then I beat the crap out of him.

When will people learn...

Sounds like a typical RDR2 session to me. :)

I get worried about Arthur though. Is he getting enough sleep? Is he eating right? I have Miss Grimshaw's voice in my head every time I'm out in the wilds... and it's bugging me.

What are the consequences of ignoring it? Anyone know?

You can lose and put on weight...never tried it but seemingly you can

alligator saddle looks best IMO
I agree tho , there is not a single item of clothing that the trapper makes that any self respecting cowboy would be seen dead in.

regarding the weight thing. it does visibly change the character model.
I've had Arthur on the verge of a double chin at some points

I'm not sure anyone would notice if my Arthur had a double chin or not...

My Arthur is fairly clean cut, I like the black fringed hunting jacket he has on in the pic...and I'm always fussy about having matching pistols, holsters and bandoliers etc since I like collecting the reinforced sets from the trapper for completing the various challenges, the gambler set being my favourite. Love that bear claw talisman belt buckle too :)

Aye, I just can't have the p o r n 'tache... even though it actually suits him.

So I decided to be a Quaker instead.
On the Xbox version I had Arthur in a civil war type cavalry 'tache and King Charles II goatee...with a long mullet. Decided this time after going from complete Grizzly Adams to clean shaven a few times to keep him with the short... err...European entertainment film industry 'tache :D
