I thought Arthur Morgan won't be able to dethrone John Marston, but now I feel like he is an even better protagonist. The magic works so well that I felt completely out of place in St Denis.
Anyway, the dark tone of the story is really intense especially at the second half of the game. The only gripe I have is that I was so expecting them to escape to New Austin, and perhaps to Mexico, as I like vast/desolate landscapes... At some points I also felt the action is over the top and perhaps too linear, especially the Guarma chapter, that totally felt like I'm playing Max Payne 3. And I didn't get why Dutch didn't take the gold bar back from the old woman he strangled.
To be honest it feels good that the epilogue is slower and more light hearted, and as an exception to all other open world games, after finishing, I'm looking forward to do cross country trips, hunt, gather plants and so on.
From RDR1 perspective, entering Blackwater and to New Austin (the first and only time so far) was awesome as the map is 1:1 the same, with minor changes such Blackwater having some building just built. It makes me wonder why they went through the pain of remastering almost all of the RDR1 map without meaningful content, if not only for online. How cool would be if they'd release RDR1 story... the setting was really great in RDR1, ranging from the mountains to Mexico... actually I will try to look for places that were present in RDR1, especially Dutch's hideout.
