There's only a few rules to follow, then (almost) nothing can happen :
- don't Neutron Boost with low FSD Integrity (I keep mine >90% at all times)
- angle and velocity! angle and velocity! Enter the cone outwards and cut throttle shortly after entering it at a flat angle of approx. 20-30deg max.
- speed matters! Don't try to enter at 0.5c.... 0.1c or less is absolutely sufficient. Just don't be a "sitting duck" since below approx. 1Mm/sec the charging starts taking much longer
- Ship size matters! Large Ships can afford entering the cone at 0.1c or more and will suffer far less wobble. Small Ship? 2-3Mm/sec entry will make the cone as smooth as as a large Ship, something like 10Mm/sec is very reasonable
- remember the cone has an outer and an inner part. In the outer part, the Ship can still throttle down and reduce speed but will only slowly supercharge FSD; in the inner part Throttle reduction will not result in any speed reduction anymore but the FSD supercharging is quicker AFAIK
- upon establishing the outward entry of the cone and inside, wait 2-3sec, then throttle into the blue
(might be myth or pure chance - but keeping the Throttle in the blue "seems" to assist stabilize a somewhat outward vector, sometimes almost feels like a "Cone Autopilot"
- have the nearby Neutron unlocked, otherwise the Autothrottle limiter will reduce the acceleration flying out again. I always have the next system enroute locked, allows faster egress
- bad angles building up? Counter the left/right roll motions instantaneously, that (somewhat) limits the wobble and can stabilize the roll almost by 100%
- getting edgy? Starts looking too risky? Throttle into the blue immediately, try to avoid jamming it full forward and sit tight. Most normal Cones are left within a few Seconds
- dropped out inside the Cone? Execute egress procedures ASAP
(charge FSD for SuperCruise re-entry and boost the Ship into straight flight FA ON (avoid FA OFF!); a Heatsink can minimize the damage. Even when facing the Neutron in SC keep it cool and avoid slamming the Throttle to max...)
PS.
Bad things to try inside the Cone
- enter FSS or DSS (lol don't !!!! That's like.... a really bad idea, the Ship will go "somewhere" quite rapidly it seems )
- double-tap FSD (evil Cat, wrong keybinds, finger trouble, distraction by missus *... only ever do that to train egress procedures in expendable Ships; btw. absolutely worth it)
- enter System Map, Galaxy Map, view GALnet or check out Codex (similar reasons as FSS/DSS)
- have a Connection loss or Server error lol (bad luck)
- try Neutron Boosting within a few hours of a major Update (Server instability! Rather make at least a dozen or more conventional jumps to assess Stability before risking it again)
* Misreading note : Caution when attempting to perform egress procedures vs. the missus, this can lead to unintended consequences
