New games in 2020. you are looking forward to!

Yeah, nintendo is very overpriced, it is a sad truth about them. They are really expensive even after the game has been out for years because they price their games with a premium that the games are nintendo approved. The switch has a lot of indies and their mainline games are almost consistently great, but the price is harder to bear when so many other games could be sold at a cheaper price compared to a singlee nintendo game.

I was planning to buy 2DS for my 5 year-old twins, but prices are prohibitive. They will inherit my PC when they go to school and that's it. :)
It a shame really, because a low-end simple device would be a great lead-in into their wonderful IPs and ecosystem.

I would actually avoid the 2DS. I think it did get discontinued, so support ended with that system some time ago. No new games for that system. However, nintendo did release the nintendo switch lite, which is a more affordable system. I myself got the nintendo switch just recently (Feb 2020). The price point is a lot but I love the system due to the portability of it all, and though nintendo games are often expensive, the indies that comes to the system are sold like crackers. So cheap games that are fun are still to be had.

But yeah, simple devices I think are a thing of the past. Man... I remember when I was gifted my gameboy pocket, my first portable system. It had no backlight, no 3D, music was limited, you could only play 1 game at a time, and I had to find batteries. It was fun tho! Kids do have it better now that they get to play zelda botw, the witcher 3, and Doom on the go. Crazy how things change in 20+ years.

Because they are twins, I cannot get away with buying a single handheld. :(
But again, they will get my PC which will remain solid I guess for many years, possibly to be used by the little one unless the CPU gets cooked.

Yeah, my only Nintendo was the GameBoy post the C64 era, which I swapped in short order for a Game Gear. Then came a long line of consoles, Mega Drive, later with Mega CD, Saturn... when it was killed off, a short period of PC gaming on what we had at home, then back to console with PS2 and PS3. My PS3 died roughly at the same time my potato laptop - then as a replacement for both (especially considering the underwhelming PS4 launch) I bought a simple rig with i3 and an AMD GPU I used with an old 4:3 LCD monitor... at which time Elite entered the chat. :) After upgrading to a proper rig with a series of incremental GPU purchases, here I am with a 7700k and a 1080ti that have been a solid platform for years now, and I don't think I'll ever buy a console (for me) again. :)

Oh! in that case, you could easily get the standard switch. The device is basically a portable home console that comes with two controllers. So multiplayer games would be a lot of fun. Single player may be an issue as it means they have to share the system, so it is a balancing act haha.

Sega's consoles did die too soon 😭. Though I never did grew up with the sega consoles, I loved the games they made such as the sonic trilogy, streets of rage, shenmue, and panzer dragoon to name a few.

I was mostly a playstation player, where the first home console we had was the playstation that I shared with my siblings. I was then able to have the PS2 as my first home console, followed by the wii as the PS3 was super expensive, then the PS3 slim, then the Wii U, then the PS4 (THE DAY BEFORE THE PRO VERSION WAS ANNOUNCED). Portably, it was the gameboy pocket and it died on me with the torn screen. Then it was the PSP, followed by the nintendo DS, 3DS, and PSVita. Then I slowly backtracked and got older consoles for the cheap prices, so I have N64, gamecube, wii, wii U, nes classic, snes classic for nintendo. PSone, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP, and PSvita for playstation. I later modified my Psone to read games from an SD card as I still wanted to experience the games on my old console, but the CD drive was dying and the games were scratched up (thanks child me).

I never did have a proper gaming PC growing up, so consoles were my go to, but it did not stop me from trying out games like zoo tycoon, the sims, and roller coaster tycoon. I then went with a macbook pro for work, but I still hold on to my old favorites with a windows 8.1 virtual machine, which works really well to run my old favorites. 😆

Switch maybe? Though it isn't really cheap either. I'm totally uninterested in consoles but if there was one that'd interest me it would be switch because of being portable.

Yeah, with that in mind Switch suddenly appears to be a nice option.

I was a console player most of the time, though I missed playing on slow paced strategy games and other stuff. I stayed away from PC because of the costs, complexity and also because 20 years ago maintaining a stable PC was much more of a hassle.
Now PC is such a compelling choice from every angle, costs aside. Easy setup, streaming to remote locations with Parsec (I can easily play any game hundreds of kms away with decent net), Steam, wide array of games, VR...

Yes, Switch could be an option. I'm also uninterested in consoles, but portability aside (which isn't much of a missing feat with Parsec streaming from my PC to the laptop), what makes Nintendo really attractive are a great choice of colorful games with great gameplay, for kids and family definitely the best gaming experience.

Yeah, I got a key for it a few days ago, I plan to dig into it this weekend!

So far, from what I have seen it is interesting but I will have to see for myself is it deep enough and will it keep me playing. I will post about it in a few days!

So...
Cyberpunk just got delayed by another two months (Nov 19th)

I saw it comming... too many factors contributing to slow development.

So, not exactly a new game, but Satisfactory is now available on Steam and this video will show you what this factory building simulation is all about. We will explore this alien open world in first person for resources in order to construct machines which will build parts to make entire factories and send finished products into space!

Was it previously on Epic Store exclusively?

Yes. So it's effectively a new release - because that store doesn't count.
That reminds me that Control releases this summer. I can't wait. :)
This and I hope Bloodlines 2 will also release sooner rather than later. I'm gonna need something to get me through summer and autumn to Cyberpunk and Gods and Monsters
