New Here, Some questions about forums!

Hey fellow commanders!

I'm new here :d, Gave the game a shot on stream about 2 weeks ago and fell in love with it, and now I've got a decent amount of friends playing it through me giving out free codes on stream for it haha! I played EvE Online for about 13 - 14 years, and this game is just everything missing from EvE. When I start a new game I usually give myself time to get into the game, and then I start browsing forums, but I haven't properly found some areas for the forums rules and etiquette so I wanted to ask you guys to help me!

First off, i have a streamer discord and gaming community and was wondering where we could advertise this? We got a few active players on it already, and were growing it as well! Were looking for people who would be interested in helping newer people out and joining in with the fun, We do however look for 0 pvp in our private session.

Secondly, Good places to advertise when I'm gonna be streaming this game. I usually stream Sea of thieves, but this game has become a major variety game of mine and im going to be streaming it more often coming into the new year! I would love a good place to advertise, especially when I'm doing giveaways!

Welcome to the forum.

As for advertising your streams and times, most likely not here. There are a few places here for that, but so many flood it with their adverts, it's hard to get any notice.

You may be better off on discord or setting up a youtube site.

Here, we offer advice, tips, suggestions, differences of opinions, complaints about greifer's and ganker's and try to answer questions for newbies.

You might try some of the third party support sites for Elite, like Inara or EDSM for squadrons, factions or private groups as there is less discussion and more advertisments going on there.

I don't think anybody would complain if you posted about your group in the newcomers part of the forum. Links to your discord or community shouldn't be a problem.The only rules I've heard of on these forums are:
Don't be rude to other members;
No spamming products or services;
No naming and shaming other commanders;
No dissing the moderators;
Try not to duplicate threads.

As with just about any other forum, the rules are ambiguous enough to be sure anything can be actionable, but there doesn't seem to be too heavy of a hand here (just some laser beams coming out of eyes on occasion).

So far as advertising your stuff, just dropping a video or link or whatever with no commentary is a bit uncouth (just my opinion). It's a place to discuss stuff, so if you think a link to your stream or discord is worthy of discussion and are willing to engage in discussion over it, I'd see no problems there.

Awesome guys, thank you so much! I’ll set up a small advertisement post for our discord tomorrow :) another question I’ve got, pvp in this game is obviously a option, any good guides out there for getting started.

OP, there are tutorials and groups for almost every aspect of this game including PvP. Elite Dangerous would not have succeeded without the massive third party support it has. A quick google will turn up plenty of almost anything you want.

Set up a squadron in-game. Register it on Inata and you can advertise there for members.
Eventually you and your mates can apply for a minor faction in game, called a pmf.
You could also make a classy signature for the forum mentioning your stream.

Thanks for the tip! Will definatly look into that, As for the community, Were actually keeping that away from squadrons as its a larger gaming community that we added elite dangerous to! And as far as eve goes, ive noticed, its a lot more fun that eve in my opinion and i cant wait for planetary warfare soon!

Hello! There is a great community of ED streamers on Twitch. My advice is, if you can, hang out in Twitch chat for the other streamers and get to know the regulars. :) Of course, advertising your own streams in Twitch chat is frowned on, but getting to know players is helpful.

yeah i regularly raid people for the game im playing and i join in with others streams aswell! :D

That and fly spaceships. FCs added much to gameplay.
You can do a lot with E: D's in-game camera suite.
