New Odyssey Concept Art: Bar Area, Base Arrive, Security Room, Taxi Booth

This is Odyssey concept art on the Czech IGN site (I don't understand Czech). The file names describe the artwork. It's about bases and the social hub.

1. Bar Area

2. Base Arrive

The taxi booth has locations to visit, Diso and others, and arrows to pads? I suspect none of this is really Odyssey related though.

The base building was leaked years ago. The devs mentioned social hubs. The taxi booth could be for traveling to destinations from a social hub without piloting a ship. The bar area is likely for player and NPC socializing in a station.

There’s enough ED content in there to suggest it’s possibly legit. (Adder model etc). Possibly Czech IGN broke an embargo by mistake?

FDev have suggested that the expansion will be particularly welcoming to new players, so I wonder if they’d even allow them to travel as passengers to new locations? Not pilot at all if they didn’t want to?

That said it could just be a cosmetic front for NPC passengers, with no actual gameplay ;)

I dont know why i bother, but really.. why people suddenly assume that Odyssey wouldnt have VR?
Because Steam doesnt say so?? Really?? pls ppl...
From the devs:

Is Elite Dangerous: Odyssey coming to VR?

Currently, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will not be VR-compatible at launch. We’re big fans of VR and we are truly proud of the amazing experience that we currently offer in Elite Dangerous. However, the new gameplay, mechanics and features that will be introduced with Elite Dangerous: Odyssey means that we had to re-examine if we could deliver that same experience without compromise, which, for launch, means Odyssey will not be VR-compatible.

well without vr.... skippedidoodah
This is an empty threat. The ratio of people who buy this new update (and ED in general) because it's cool to those who don't if there is no VR support will nicely line Frontier's pockets with $$$, and they know it. If VR was "all that", then we'd have a VR version of Planet Zoo, JWE, etc.

FWIW, ED is the best VR game I know of and I hope Frontier at least continues to support the VR piloting we currently have. If not, well, they'll still get my $$$ (as will the manufacturer of a bigger 2D monitor). 🤷

EDIT - well it's official, NO support for VR in Odyssey, and all of the sudden I'm beginning to doubt my own desire to give my $$$ to this DLC. Not just because the VR is turned off, but also because it sounds like the space legs are extremely limited - no interiors, no base-building, just walking in sand.

I missed this! Good catch. Any word if non-Odyssey content will continue to support VR?
