New ship: Gutamaya Corsair

Again, its up to the eyes looking at it to filter them since this is a bit of fun and community engagement.

That and looking over at The Other Game for Stellar Citizens it did not cause them that much trouble....

Yep, for sure.

Honestly, I think FDev have done a pretty good job, overall, with ship design.
The first ships were obviously callbacks to Elite 84 and they were reimagined very well and the later ships usually look fairly plausible and not contrived or over-stylised.
Even so, it couldn't hurt to see what players might come up with and it could be the event of the year if FDev did pick a player design to develop.

Indeed, we haven't really had a full on crayons competition for a long time (last one being the in game adverts).

The Asp Scout is visually very nice. While I hope the next ship is the Panther Clipper (for Bigmaec's sanity) the next needs to be the Asp DeathWing[TM], where it becomes the scourge of space.
Admittedly I do like the utilitarian feel of the Asps.

As for future ships, have both the Asp and Panther, but the make it so the new Asp is purpose built for blowing up Panther Clippers, even in the hands of NPCs

the Medusa livery for the cobra Mk III was made by a commander. It’s pretty epic.

FDev should leverage the community whenever possible. Just off the top of my head, they should open source the mission system. Let the community propose (and obviously, FDev would approve or deny) missions

I have a new theory...
Designer: So what direction do you want to go for the Gutamaya Corsair?
Director: Picture the fastest conceivable aircraft mated to the most advanced cargo ship imaginable.
Designer:
SR71androckettransport.jpg

Director: Exactly.

You guys are freaks.
Asp Avenger.
Whats next? Federal Scout ship?

Repeat after me: Panther Clipper
Panther Clipper Panther Clipper.

That's what we need after the Corsair.
Sheesh.

I’m still wanting a Federal Interceptor (think more heavily armed FAS) or the Constrictor military prototype from the original game.

Please respect the story you created even if the ranking mechanics are useless and completely forgotten.
The history of the game and the empire shows that this is important to value the history of your game so that we can always do the same.
Something quite important was said some time ago, it's hard to believe that you're not creating new mechanics just by erasing old ships with new ones.

Imperial at 🕛 😁

Uh... while kids still use that phrase, that has been slang word for "great" since the 80s.

I think the kids today would either say it's "fione" or it's "Lit AF, no cap." Brainrot slang is hilarious (for the record, I'm in my early 50's).
They'd call it the Drink(a beverage of sorts)

The Cutter is the cup, because it is its father.

i think it depends where you are from.... of all of the bone headed illogical phrases which mean the opposite of what the person using it thinks it means "sick" as a positive is the 2nd worst one for triggering me ( "I could care less" just about winds me up more , and "I didnt do nothing" slips into 3rd place.

however at least in the 90s in some areas sick still had its correct meaning. Funnily enough just last night the wife was watching Friends, and something was sick...... and it was meant as disgusting..... so at least back then some people knew sick is horrible ;)

On topic
As for ship rankings...... i absolutely think the Corsair should be rank locked, somewhere between the clipper and cutter (so maybe Count? )

Mind you Elite Dangerous never really fleshed out a lot of the central dogma of the game and the sad thing is some of the devs didn't even know the history of the game they were making.

years ago I asked Sandro Sammarco when imperial slaves would be correctly implemented. He was bamboozled, when elaborated explaining they should be passengers not cargo he genuinely could not understand where I was coming from and said slaves are slaves and are treated as such.
