New Ships 2024

The gif of The Wrath of Khan shows James T. Kirk and Spock in the bridge of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701). The constitution class ships were "designed for long duration exploration and patrol missions". This ship was owned by the United Federation of Planets.

So I think the next ship will be a large exploration vessel, possibly Federal, made by Core Dynamics.

Thinking some more, could you have a small explorer that goes beyond the DBS?

Super small footprint (so can land anywhere), say, one hardpoint (for a PA fuel ejector), super cool running, really, really long range, SRV bay exit at the back (so it can be deployed easily anywhere), good visibility all around, good SC / real agility, utility modules on upper surfaces (for point defence on surfaces), SCO capable?

There's already a bunch of small explorer ships. Medium and large ships are probably more popular to sell for ARX.

I'd rather have a large ship with 1 small landing pad + hangar so it could be a compact-carrier.

While that would be cool at the same time I don't think it will ever happen, given that a mini carrier would operate as an FC and not a ship you traditionally fly (i.e. its tied, due to database considerations, to a server tick).

Well it wouldn't have other benefits of a Drake-class carrier. I don't know if there's technical issues that prevent adding a small hangar to a directly flyable large ship.

Probably the Cobra Mk V and possibly a new large ship (Anaconda Mk II with a hull not made of magic?)
I would like to see the CM 5 as well, as a small ship ody mission runner, as smalls can land at all planetary settlements, mediums and larges, cannot land at all at some of the settlements. CM 5 could also be a mix and match of the CM3 and CM4 for internals, utils, weapons, cargo etc. Built for SCO (Ludicrous Speed Drive) as well.

A large makes sense as well, but what exactly would it's role be: SCO (Ludicrous Speed Drive) is a given at this point. But other than that I am not sure. Maybe double down on the Anaconda magic pixie dust hull?

I've been chewing over the "why" of adding a new large ship, coming to the conclusion it would need to be an adequate multi-role ship, which is how I came up with Annie2, but, maybe, just maybe, the PANTHER fans could be given a Christmas gift?

Panther Clipper... I could go for that. And with 3 months of early access for T8, it would arrive in early access, just before the holidays. That would work well indeed

While I would like a small ship for novelty, tradition demands the Panther Clipper. Its been in and out of the games lore, beta files and imaginations too much for it not to be a thing.

Moray Starboat, though that one should only arrive when we can land on waterworlds and do some Subnautica-style gameplay (unlikely to happen for a long time).

What's interesting.
Since a new ship comes out only once every 3 months and for ARXs it is available just for 3 months, people who have not bought only one first ship will be at a disadvantage with only one ship.
After August 7th they will buy the Python Mk2 and it will be a new ship for them and also for 3 months, and then there will be the T8 which will also be a new ship for them....
I think I've made myself clear.

I'm kidding :D

I think you're reading too much into it. Arf often posts Star Trek gifs, they don't mean Star Trek, they convey the emotion intended in the particular gif. He likes Star Trek.

That gif is not implying a particular type of ship, just OMG or similar.

Someone has to, I guess...

As I have no idea what the ship is, whatever emotion or such it was intended to invoke, went straight over my head.

(As does many references to TV shows etc.)
