So it is going to be a large ship that can’t land but carries shuttles for cargo.
It might also have a damage model to rival the Anaconda.
Love how consistent this forum is though. He posted a reaction gif to him seeing the ship; it's his job he's a CM. He's suggesting that's his reaction to seeing it. There is zero implication that any of what he posted relates to the ship. The forum:
I'm hoping for at least one small ship...with teeth. Fingers crossed for a Vulture Mk2.
Well they are doing a pre-build Vulture mk1 with ship kit and Crossfire in the next round.
I've given up any hope of seeing the Panther in ED ever. I always thought it would, as there are size 8 FSD in the game (I've actually seen an 8D in outfitting myself), but there is no size 8 version of the SCO. Why would they skip that, if there was any intention to release something requiring a size 8.
Being optimistic, perhaps if they had released a class 8 SCO drive with the others, that would kind of give it away that one of the upcoming ships was going to be pretty immense and everyone would be assuming the Panther Clipper was definitely on the way.
Although I will believe it's in the game after I see it.
That's not entirely true. After all, the t9 has only a class 6 FSD and holds as much as the Cutter, which has a class 7.
You're arguing that a smaller ship needs a smaller FSD, which is supporting my point.
No. My point is that the Panther Clippers could have been jumping around with a 7th grader, even if only for five years.
They could increase the ARX price for large ships. Dunno if they will though.
That wasn't my point. I was saying if FDev put a class 8 SCO FSD in the game with no ship that could use it, that would be a very obvious giveaway that one of the 4 ships they're in the process of developing would be something very big. Knowing that a very big ship was going to be put in the game, the general assumption on the forum would be that it would be the Panther Clipper.
So one of two scenarios would play out. Option one is it'd be a complete giveaway that the Panther Clipper was going to be put in the game, ruining the impact of any future announcement. Alternatively, if the new large ship wasn't going to be the Panther Clipper, the reaction to the announcement to whatever large ship would likely be disappointment, which isn't what FDev would be looking for.
All I'm saying is that code for a class 8 FSD could be sat on a USB stick in David Braben's sock drawer, ready for when it's needed, for all we know.
We need a new manufacturer, Weyland Yutani. And a monstrous "Nostromo" class ship (without the leathery egg, of course).

I just did a quick search and found gazillions of comments back several years. The questions I would have is whether it will fit through the slot and if not will it transfer cargo via shuttles or a special umbilical or docking arm (thinking of X4 Stations) ?
Much speculation there is. If it has to use shuttles for trading, it would open up more gameplay options. Will it be able to land on planets ?
Since we know its going to be big, can it hold a Sidey or Eagle size ship for trips down to planets (which I'd find very nice).
Are there any clues from developer posts the past few months about this topic ?
Too much dreaming going on so I need to leave now or wake up to reality.
