i would like to have a simple history function to track my travel trough the galaxy - just a date/time, system name, station name, comment that logs into an extra file

and maybe a little section where we can put current notes which is not related to system data

hmmm, I'm fluffing something up (since my previous use of one of the earlier versions). I downloaded the new zip fle, unzipped it, ran the exe, and the tool has no pre-populated list of commodities. This is in spite of the fact that the data files are there in the same directory as the exe.

Anybody got any idea what I am doing wrong?

2. Blackmarket Available so its searchable. (Currently im listing in Notes, but I have over 100 systems in it now so its a chore to look for them).

It is searchable, but it's alittle unobvious how to do it. Check the mark for "Search Station Data".... then every system with the Black Market checkbox checked invisibly has "Black Market" as a search term tied to it.... so in the search field if you just put "black" or something it will show only ones that have a black market.

That would enable scripts made in notepad to be copied and pasted into your "notes" text box and all of the columns would line up nicely. Thanks.

Doesn't it work if you change the font in notepad?

No, when one paste into the Cmdr's Log the text will always revert to the font of the final location.

It's just a canned text file that I paste into the Cmdr's Log notes box. It keeps me from constantly typing the same things over and over again.
I just copy it in then delete the correct number. As so:

notice how I show "BEAM LASER G size C2 is located at this station. I just now do some deleting and no more typing. Also note how the ships
at the top do not line up correctly in column form. This is because the host text box is not using a Courier font. It's ok as is though. This is just
how I do it.

I know in the original game (actually Elite: Frontier I think) you could turn them progressivley into animal meat then fertiliser if you kept them in a cargo hold without life support. Now THAT is a dark sense of humour.

Ok I got alittle play time in tonight. About time!

Logged a few systems. One thing I noticed is that I tend to have to retype a bunch of stuff in the notes field, especially when it comes to the way I log Outfitting supplies.

So I threw in a quick feature this evening, that will be in the next updated, wanted to give you all a heads up.

The notes dialog now has Snippets. These were thrown in quick, but they work. Basically there's a new data file called snippets.txt. Each section of it is a fragment of text you can insert quickly from a drop down box on the notes dialog. So you could make a snippet like

" - Python"
}

Or something like that, and insert that data quickly as a section. It's actually faster to have ALL ships listed for example, then just delete out the ones they don't have instead of typing it all! You can make the text anything you want; make your own system to use for searching or whatever.

Anyway, just got tired of typing the same sections of notes over and over There's my solution. It will be in the next build, probably tomorrow.

ArchV1, oh my god. This is amazing. Seriously amazing - exactly what I was looking for.

I was tempted to grab something like the Dangerous Trading tool, but it felt so much like cheating, so I am glad I waited. I was almost about to start using the Trading Data template sheets from the Pilots Guide.
