New Version of Cmdr's Log Available!

Wow, nothing like fast response! Thanks!

Note: The pull-downs from a pulldown... having the ability to add the edit field to the pulldown list..
For example, I have the 'Population' pulldown field and I only knew 2 of the sizes, and I typed in a 3rd but noted there is no was to add that to the pulldowns easily. Maybe a 'add edit files to pulldown' button?

Meh... Just add it to your custom_fields.txt manually :). I did this earlier too. Just make the app is closed when you add it.

Good enough, I can work with that

EDIT: hehe... for those that DO edit that file make sure you close Cmdr's Log FIRST

Is there any way you can automate the "arrive" and "depart" buttons? I keep on forgetting to hit them!! Perhaps when the import button is hit and the box closes, that could record the visit?

I surmise no one else is as forgetful as me:)

I know the feeling, I keep forgetting too - anything that will automate it is good in my book.

I'm guessing stations where all commodities are set to "None" is supposed to show age: 500d now?

I was a little surprised when I first noticed it...

"How is it 500 days old?!" *clicks* everything says 8d... whaaaa... *sees they all say None* Oh."

You know, you could just have had it say "None" like the station-less systems : P

Haha... uh yeah that's the default "super old value" if it manages to not get past all the criteria for calculating the age. I'll change it to something more reasonable... if you're lucky...

Quick request for a future release? On the main Systems and Stations screen, would it be possible to show somewhere on the right-hand side, perhaps above the Station data area, the name of the station that you have clicked/locked onto/selected from the drop-down menu on the left-hand side? It seems that in my dotage I am unable to work out which one of the System/Station combos I have actually selected, especially if I have scrolled up and down that list since I started looking. The colours (which are useful) and the dark blue "you have selected this" colour are just too confusing for me sometime. I am finding that inadvertently I am selecting a different station from the list whilst scrolling and then go ahead and make changes to my system notes and lo and behold I have changed the wrong station. D'oh!

Anyway, thanks for all your hard work so far.

Kind regards
Jon

Possible bug: In the Trading screen, the Have and Need buttons seem to go to the opposite of what they seem to mean. If I click on the Need button I'd expect to see a list of stations that have Demand (that need) for that commodity, but instead see a list of stations that Supply that commodity.

It's from your perspective, ie "I need this" or "I have this".

Maybe it could be clarified by changing the buttons to read "I need..." and "I have..."

Was 100% intuitive as-is for me (I need and I have were apparently my base assumptions) but if there's room changing the button text probably wouldn't hurt for clarity.

My data has been corrupted somehow. Systems/Stations that appear in my Journal txt file as Departt/Arrive are completely missing from the system_data file.

Prior to that, some systems had stations called 'Commodities' and 'Notes'.

Is this a known problem?

Elite OCR

Evening Commanders :p

I tried out this OCR thing but can't get it to work, even watched a youtube clips but alas :(

I get as far as where u have 4 screen shots & press ocr or ocr all but all i get is " System name not found in log files " eta even though i've pointed the patch to the ED product folder which contain the log files ?

Any ideas ?

Thaaaaaat doesn't sound good. First I've heard of it - hopefully Arch can make it work again

Ah, yes. Your log files need to be told to put system names in.

Head to your EDLAUNCH/Products/FORC-whatevernumbers/ folder and edit AppConfig.xml (you can open it in notepad.

Look for the section that starts with <Network

And add the line

VerboseLogging="1"

Save, restart ED, leave the system and come back. OCR will now detect the last system you entered and decide that's where you want to update prices for

Hrm that's no good! First time I've heard of anything like that happening. You might be able to straighten out yourself by monkeying around with the system_data.txt file and getting rid of hte bogus stuff. There's probably just one entry somewhere causing all the chaos.

Unfortunately there is nothing to monkey around with any longer. By closing the app, when it was showing stations with names like 'Commodities' and 'Notes', system_data.txt was overwritten, and the systems/stations are gone. :(

Here is an extract from the end of the Travel Log

Code:
HR 4867 ()      Arrival: January 25,2015 20:15
      Departure: January 25,2015 20:15

BEI DOU SECTOR FW-W B1-2 ()
      Arrival: January 25,2015 20:15
      Departure: January 25,2015 20:19

G 224-46 ()
      Arrival: January 25,2015 20:20
      Departure: Unknown

G 224-46 (Zebrowski Ring)
      Arrival: January 25,2015 20:25
      Departure: January 25,2015 20:36

G 224-46 (Pierce Port)
      Arrival: January 25,2015 20:43
      Departure: January 25,2015 20:56

G 224-46 (Lorrah Dock)
      Arrival: January 25,2015 20:56
      Departure: January 25,2015 21:00

ETA DRACONIS (Alvares Terminal)
      Arrival: January 25,2015 21:07
      Departure: January 25,2015 21:26

ETA DRACONIS (Fisk Port)
      Arrival: January 25,2015 21:26
      Departure: Unknown

And here is the bottom of system_data.txt

Code:
    HR 4867    {

        Commodities
        {
            economy = ""
            government = ""
            faction = ""
            hidden = "0"
            blackmarket = "2"

            Commodities
            {
            }

            Notes
            {
            }
        }

        Notes
        {
            economy = ""
            government = ""
            faction = ""
            hidden = "0"
            blackmarket = "2"

            Commodities
            {
            }

            Notes
            {
            }
        }
    }
}

From my personal log, I would expect the G 224-46 system and stations and the empty BEI DOU SECTOR FW-W B1-2 system to be present in the file, but they are not.

I *think* my test use case to try and reproduce this is that I am adding systems with no station name AND without the 'No stations' check box ticked. I'm using this entry to log when I just jump through a system.

Could another option be considered, 3 way trip? Or do you believe that would go too far? I am debating this with myself, it would be fun to see how much better/worse a route could be with a third trading checkpoint but then wouldnt it make it too easy?

Other thought, would there be a way to implement a distance between system? Can we know where we are exactly in space in game and use that to determine where the station added is in space and therefore how far they are to each others?

Just as an aside, if you use a folder backup with revision control (I store my CMDR's Log in my Dropbox folder, which keeps older versions of your files) you can recover should your data ever become corrupted.

I tried running it out of my dropbox back in v1 but it kept freezing up on me.

I guessed it was because the program didn't like that it's files were being accessed by dropbox when they were synced.

Edit: Might have been crashing, I don't remember. But it wasn't usable so I had to move it out of the dropbox.
