New Version of Cmdr's Log Available!

Just had a quick look and noticed one thing, don't know if someone else has brought it up yet: the hide none/illegal/etc. tick boxes reset every time you close and open the commodities window. I kinda hoped those settings would stick in the new version.

Yeahhhh didn't get around to saving that off. I'll see if I can stick it in for 2.0a

The popup to edit price/amount for a commodity appears in the center of the main window instead of the commodity window, any way you could fix that?

Also, it'd be great if the Trading window set the "from" field to the system/station you are in (depending on if "system to system" option is on or not).

It'd also be nice if it remembered what the last settings where when you close and re-open the trading window, so you don't have to fill in cargo capacity and such each time.

Love 2.0 so far!

Welcome back. I think the length of the custom fields might be a display issue, I've not had a problem with them yet. I do have a couple more for you:

BUGS
Search results - when open can't click on main window (ding), can't click on other search result windows (multiple open) (like that multiple searches open, but want to click between them :)

Would like:
* Swap feature on trading screen (from/to)
* Sorting on price for search results window (e.g. I have X where is best price to sell it?)
* On trading screen = number of minutes since from & to station was updated for said commodity - two extra columns.

Loving it so far!

Yeah the Search Result window (Need/Have) is still old school. I didn't touch that one. It's a model dialog and all that, and has no sorting. I was considering getting rid of it and putting Need/Have search results in the trade window itself.

No please keep it separate. I search for a couple of things at a time and having the multi windows is great - search for missions. then I do searches on the trade window to see where to best trade at the same time, keeping the searches open as I can't remember the list of places :)

Ok. So you want me to convert that search results to a modeless window so it can remain open while you do stuff in another window?

Yes please, and still have multiple search windows (search for cobolt, search for clothing etc). sometimes a station has a few missions to get items for them and the multiple search windows help to identify if I can get several items from the same place, then I use the trade window to see what I can take to that station - profit both ways :)

So I fly from station A to B, taking goods X (from trade screen)
I pick up searched items at B for mission requirements, and buy goods Y (fill up cargo space) and take back to first station.

All righty. Yeah I guess that's one thing that's different from the early days of beta. Back then, trading directly with buy/sell items from the commodities market was the only way to really make money... the missions sucked. But now it almost seems flipped, where missions are really the way to make money.

@ArchV1 - While you're updating the search results, can you put on the time of when it was last updated as well please, this information is very useful.

Thanks.

Something weird is going on...

The program refuses to close. Clicking the X button, right-clicking the taskbar icon and selecting close, nothing works. I had to kill the task to close it.

Also, I can't use the num-pad to enter anything into the fields in the Trade window for some reason. It works in the main window and commodity window.

The first post mentions both of these. the X doesn't work at the moment on the main window - use the EXIT button. Also the Numpad to enter the values on the trade window is known - use the number keys along the top of the keyboard for cargo and min profit.

>>>
Known Issues

  • The X button to close the window doesn't work. Just use the Exit button for now.
  • The Numpad doesn't work for number entry on the Trading Window
  • There is a CRASH if you close the Commodities Window before you close a Commodities Details dialog. Don't do that

A big suggestion that would help data entry speed ALOT.:D
On the commodity entry page. I will use coffee for an example: I hit enter to bring it up to enter the data in the commodity detail box. As soon as that box comes up Have the default field ready for entry be the "status" drop down. Or move the status dropdown to the bottom under quantity. And it would speed up entry a lot I believe. Reason is I have to tab up to change the status then back down to enter data. or tab twice after quantity to get to it and if I accidentally hit none or not set then it deletes all. I think this would benefit all. I love the tool and thanks a lot for letting us use it.:)

Very useful tool. Thanks :)
I hope you manage to get the problem with it clearing all custom field data of the selected station during load.

Does anyone else think this would be a good idea? Or am I missing a specific data entry flow? crap just realized I het reply not edit; oh well

Though it made me relive my years as a data entry specialist, the most efficient way I've found is to go through the commodity list in data entry mode using the numpad to set the supply/demand status. Set everything that isn't applicable as "none".

Then go back to the top of the list. Get comfortable on the numpad and do this

Enter
[number]
enter
enter
[number]
enter
enter
[number]

Repeat until you've made it through. I don't use the Quantity column, and not having to hit tab speeds up the entire process pretty drastically.

Hi, That's actually what I was doing. And it works fine. But you still have that extra step of going through the commodities first. (and I'm not that fast at data entry LOL). But I have now mounted my transformer pad below my main monitor to specifically use this tool and no keyboard attached. So now I cannot do it that way at all do to the way the touch keypad works and selection. So the only way to speed it up would be altering that status section. But in reality I think it would really speed it up and benefit everyone. And yeah I stopped putting in amounts as well. Got really boring and took way to long. Thank you for the reply.

I wonder if the key would be to move the supply/demand hotkeys over to the main keyboard. That way you could highlight the field, type the number and hit the supply/demand hotkey at any point?

So if supply was on QWE, demand on ASD and none/not set/illegal on ZXC, you could hit 456 W [enter] 14 A [enter] etc?
