New worshipper of Docking Computer

I use a dc in all of my large ships and never had a problem. OTH I always make sure that I come in straight to the mail slot when I get out of SC. And so far I did not get stuck in the mail slot with my Cutter when I auto launch. I like the new ADC.

Just make sure you don't trust it too much; be present at the PC when it is doing its thing or you may regret it.

I'm a fan myself on ships where I can spare the module slot but earlier today it got my Cutter stuck in the mail slot during the auto launch. It was so stuck that I couldn't get unstuck when I took manual control and had to quickly exit to menu before I got shot at by station defenses. O.O That's the only time (so far) that the undock has failed me though.

Docking on the other hand has yet to cause me more than one (minor) issue....I sometimes get up to use the bathroom while autodock does it's thing, but never in my "big" ships like the Cutter, Beluga and T9. Better safe than sorry.

IIRC you can toggle your landing gear down and up to get free in those situations. I just recently came back to the game so it may not work anymore, but it's worth a try if you get stuck again.

Blasphemy!!!

(Just kidding - use whatever gear you want - I STILL remember how happy I was when I was able to afford a docking computer in the original Elite...)

IDK about using one my favorite thing in the game is to go through the mail slot with boost( they get a little upset but it sure is fun to do :D

Why can't they just be built into the ships? Same with scanners. Should be a software update.
I like that idea but I think it's probably too late. Imagine the complaints if FD took away the extra slots again; or the other complaints if they left them available!

I have a regular DC in my T9 and use it when I'm not smuggling. It can get you into all kinds of trouble if you forget your carrying illegal goods and put your feet up.

My only gripe is that we can't change the music. There are many other solid pieces of classical music that could be included. I know why Blue Danube is there but at some point we need to be able to move on.

The new Docker and the SuperCruise Assist are invaluable additions to anyone's arsenal beyond the age of 27. As in cars. And they get more valuable the older one gets. Just like reading glasses. Did you imagine you'd possibly ever need these when you were 35?

O7,
🙃

It's when you notice that the staircase going up into your ship has been replaced with a lift...

Like others, in the original Elite the first thing i bought when the funds were there? A DC :)

I'm just one of those weird people where one of my favorite things about ED is landing! I'll be taking the free slots on most ships.

I think most of enjoy landing out ships, taking off even... but being given the choice is the main factor, sometimes automation can be useful :)
This. I'm not likely to get one myself, because I don't fly big ships (the only place I'd probably consider it) and I like blasting out of Mos Eisley. But for rookies who don't yet get dock/undock, vets who got it years ago, and those who like futurey spaceship stuff, it's a piece of win. Win for the rest of us too because free slot.

Supercruise Assist is not so good for explorers as it forces you to throttle down at every jump, this slows you down immeasurably. It's useful in system once at the destination, so I normally switch it off until I need it.

It doesnt force u, go to "4" key, to ship and there is an option there to remove the auto-throttle down (on/off) so it wont if u select it, i use it, good to avoid crashing into a star.

Im using the ADC and SCA on all my ships, dont mind loosing slots, as this 2 are useful and make things more enjoyable.

Most ppl talking trash about them didnt even tried them, others say trash about it, but deep down they are just jealous cause they dont want to take out some modules off their ships to putt them on.
